Well, it all boils down to what Dia was talking about: people have to have a scapegoat for their own failures, they're just too dumb and irresponsible to recognise the fact that they screwed big time.
It becomes insane in the USA: some dumbass was dead drunk and got electrocuted after climbing an electric pole. And this idiot sued the barman for having served him drinks while he was clearly smashed. How moronic can you get?
I bet I could make a point in court and blame anything screwy on Troll 2:
"Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my client was deeply disturbed after seeing Troll 2, it's just too weird. Out of depression and bewilderment he ate all the chocolate and became fat and now he has diabetes and has set his hair on fire while trying to eat his car. I say burn Claudio Fragasso.".

"Police Reject Game Link to Murder"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leic ... 538066.stm

Seems the victim had the game, but the murderer didn't own a copy.

Looks like Jack Thompson didn't lock his vectors very well :D

Although the victims mother claims the game was lent to him by the killer, I don't believe there's any way they can now hold software developers responsible.
She even goes on to say "Leblanc is responsible for what Leblanc did and what he did was horrible". Which I think we can all agree on.

Quote:
"The motive for the incident was robbery."

They added: "We can confirm the game was not found in Warren Leblanc's room, it was found in Stefan Pakeerah's room."

Next his parents are going to say that he killed so he could steal and own the game

Short term, you may be right, but it will blow over eventually. People will just move on to blaming something, or somebody, else.
Once the papers stop printing stories on the subject and calling for a witchhunt, most people will forget about the whole thing.
