Who is so damn cheap as to give pirate copies of shit films and music to their loved ones I do not know, but I'm under the impression that the timing of these events is linked to this ;)

I am so damn cheap.
Oh, is it ok, when under the free copies a new stand-alone DVD player lies? :D

You know , I'm starting to become paranoia with all these crackdowns...

Right now somebody is pumping "some mainstream movie" towards me at 210 kb/s !!!

My download capacity (>2mbit) being the bottleneck :o

Wait a minute ! :-o

No man on ed2k that has a pipe that big shares so generous :-o

I'm gonna pause it , and restart some other day.... :wacky:

Look, I can prove the RIAA and MPAA are insane. Einstein's definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Well, here's what I have to say to those bastards:

Do you guys realize, that between the end of Napster and now, not one damn thing that you are doing is different. They shut down the main site and a million other things pop up like mushrooms.

Look at this thread. Yestarday I used only SuprNova.org. now I have 10 or so sites to choose from.

Brilliant, RIAA. F***ing brilliant. You killed Napster - which could have made you money - and you got Kazaa, and couldn't shut them down. So you poisoned the network and sued the users and FastTrack is almost useless.

SO. FREAKING. WHAT. You think you've WON???

That all you got? What's next? KaZaa mixed with BitTorrent, encryption protected by your stupid DCMA (yes, it protects basically any encryption.) KaZaa plus BT plus TiVo plus wireless plus very high speed connections. You suit wearing jackasses are SCREWED. What're you gonna do then? You guys are clinging to a fossilized business model and pathetic attempts to use jackel lawyers to try to maintain a status quo that has been dead and rotting for FIVE YEARS.

GIVE IT UP. You aren't bringing Nineteen Ninety Whatever back, no matter what you do. That business model is dead, buried, YOU CAN'T RESUSICTATE THAT F*CKER so just quit trying!

Do you smell that? That's the tar pits, you stupid, blind, greedy dinosaurs. You've walked right into them, and while you blindly bumble around, having learned nothing in 5 years, a million brilliant minds across the GLOBE are planning a thousand thousand ways to get around your stupidity, greed, and colossal arrogance. Not because of money, hard as it may be for you to believe that, but because they CAN. Because it's THERE. Because you said they can't and you're the Man, and they won't let the Man keep them down.

You've declared war on the genuises who will build the world we live in in twenty years. You people are doomed. Your organizations, and power, and influence, are doomed.

It'll never stop, and everyone you sue or intimidate...well, we may be (mostly) young and powerless - but that'll change. Sooner or later you'll have to reckon with us on even ground, and we won't have forgotten. We'll never forget.

So keep on bumbling along. Keep on developing insanely costly copy protection I can beat with a Shift key. Or a sharpie. Keep on suing twelve year olds and harassing people and shuttering websites and, most of all, and I mean this sincerely, please keep making us improve, please.

Every time you kill one of our services, you make us build a better one. Survival of the fittest, baby. In 5 years of fighting you, we've gone from a few people sharing low quality music to MILLIONS sharing EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME.

In 5 years, we have brought in a new ERA, and you are still using the same tired playbook. Keep it up. It'll be interesting to see what happens first. Will you last long enough for us to destroy you or will you teach us to build something you can never crack?

Those are your options.

Retire. You old men are rich beyond count. Retire. See the grandkids, golf, fish, have a beer. You've earned it, ruling the industry for 90 years. Relax, take a break. I don't hate you. I pity you, I pity you because you are going to be extinct. So enjoy what time you've got left, and go with peace. We'll give you that.

We don't want your houses, your cars, your money. You can keep all your ill-gotten gains (and they call US pirates?).

We want information and freedom and no more interference. We don't want to fight you.

But we'll fight if we have to. And we'll win. We're already winning. So quit. Or don't. In twenty years, we'll rule the world we build, while you fade off into obscurity, like the prehistoric behemoths you are.
Where have you gone? What have you learned?

Damn that was awesome, perfectly sums up the spirit.

We are not broken, we will rise from the ashes bigger and stronger than before.

I have passed copies of that letter onto everyone I know.

If you know anyone in the record / movie industry, let them have a few copies to leave lying round the office ;)
