Not too mention she might start on the table leg/rope or chain whatever you used to tie her up with. I gotta say I bung her in a kennel, might not even have to be permanent, praise her when she is good and she might get the message. There is also the possibility she will grow out of it.

As for the rope thing, have you tried letting it pick up the scent of some of her food or treats? If she has anything dry just lay the rope in it, has worked b4 for someone I know.

Hey Daeron, I can see you gotta nice dog there, but I always prefered the more defined faces of Staffs myself. Those dogs have great personalities tho.

I think that's typical of the breed, great people dogs but can be looking for a fight with other dogs.

Yeah George, I used to look after rescue dogs for short periods, so am used to the behaviour. Before I got Mr Ruthless tho I was sure to research the breed thoroughly, and so far there have been no surprises from a behavioural POV.

The problem with these breeds is that they are extraordinarily strong, there power to weight ratio must be thru the roof compared to most other breeds, like I said before he never loses tug of war with any dogs upto a sort of German Shepherd size, hell he could prolly beat me LOL Thankfully he has learned to behave on a lead, we did have a problem where no-one except me and my step-son could walk him, he was too strong for anyone else to be able to stop him, and he has piled on a good 10 lb more muscle since then.

The vet said average weight for male staff is 28-38 lbs for a male, he weighs 42 lb and the vet said he has not finished yet LOL

The main shit we have is he is so strong he can break doors given more than a few minutes, fine during the day as there is usually someone here, but at night it can be a bit of a hassle, the only upside is that during the night he will sorta get the message that ppl are still around and give up.

Sometimes tho I do wish kids were this simple, at least with a dog you know where you are, theydo this cos they are bored, they do that cos they are angry, simple really, not like little punks, they are so weird.

Compared to 8 hours a day tied to a table leg, I'd say that would be freedom.

Seriously dude, tying her to the table is nothing short of barbaric and you'll end up with even more problems if you start doing that.

I disagree completely. The chain she's tied to is about 8-10ft long so she can get to her food and water no problem and get to comfortable chair for her to lay in. Where in a kennel all she can do is lay. At least she has freedom of movement because she's not confined in a cage where at most she could do is sit up and turn around. That's way more barbaric than anything if you ask me.

:beerchug: I know what you mean bro!

My Amstaff must be confined when there's nobody at home!!!
He also hates cats! There are lotsa (stray)cats where I live.
And on one occasion a cat jumped in his (outside)kennel and he just ravaged the poor kitty  into a bloody mess!
He'll walk through closed doors/windows... :wacky:
It's not barbaric believe me, it's the only option with a breed like that!

Owning a dog does need responsibility. The hardest thing I found was realising dogs are not ppl, they do not think like us and you cannot always treat them as one.

Hey Vermin, I would be right in assuming the greatest difference between and Amstaff and a Staff is mainly the size, particularly the length of the legs. Your boy looks a "LOT" like mine, apart from the colour, mine has quite long legs for a staff apparently. How tall is he at the shoulder? And what about his weight?

TBH I have never seen an Amstaff in the flesh.

I gotta get a new camera, this one is not too impressive in anything other than bright sun LOL Damn, I been trying to get the sod to pose, but it appears he is not ver photogenic :-(

Can't wait till my boy fills out some more.

:edit: so it would appear our dogs are similar height, and mine should reach that sorta weight too hopefully.

Damn that is a nice looking dog.

Yeah, wargand, the only reason that I was willing to post his pic is because I know you don't like dogs. Hiis similarity to a sheep made me a little nervous that you might fall in love.

Oh yes, I simply love sheep. With rosemary, thyme, marjoram and a little garlic....tasty. Should you ever grow tired of your so called dog, tell me. I'd love to send you the whole recipe.

I already know about the "special stuffing" you use/give the animals you love, so I don't think I need the recipe. Um, but, thanks, anyway, I guess.

Oooh, can I have your special recipe Wargand

@Vermin, you are so right in your synopsis of the breed, especially the stubborn bit. Sometimes I wanna pull my hair out with the little sod, but it is worth it. How strange that I found a dog to be better company than most ppl.
