Yes, they are. I don't speak any Polish (apart from Hello and Thank You), so my communication was mostly with younger people, as they have learned English in school. These younger people therefore were easier to approach for me, older people sometimes were a bit distant.
In some countries I have seen shopkeepers trying to sell you stuff like 24h a day, even walking with you for a while trying to make a deal. In Poland they don't do that, they simply wait until you come with your products to the counter. Here too you can see the difference between younger and older people. Younger people will be quicker in asking you if you need any help finding what you're looking for.
In Warsaw I saw many younger people who are liberal and modernised, while I also saw people in villages who are still somewhere halfway the previous century. So: lots of differences, but they are all Poles!
