its about time you buy a dvd burner i think, so you can fit 5 movies on one plate... and you better hide your 2500 cds good... you never know when the fbi or riaa is coming for ya.. i have heard they are very good to break doors...

i havent seen a betamax for ages and i have heard that some ppl say that betamax was better than vhs in many ways. i cant remember how good it was but since you have alot of them laying around, i ask you.. are they better than vhs? can you give reason why if they are? |
The only thing that i notice is that Betamax offers a very high picture-quality like the S-VHS-system. I?ve got a Sanyo VTC-NX15 with almost 18 years and it stills working very well.

I try not to hoard stuff, there are too many new films to discover to watch them more than once, apart from the favourites.
I've bought about 100 DVDs in the last 4 years, I only buy one now if I really want it or if it is cheap. I used to have a few hundred VHS but they got sold to one of those collection buying companies.

whoa, jon doe, butterfly knives? hehehe, i been messing with them since i was a little little monkey. not that i would pick them as a weapon to go out and stab somebody(not that i would ever stab anybody), but i can make them dance like wisps of smoke between my fingers. kind of odd, because im rather clumsy with my hands, but i kind of took to butterfly knives quite dexteriously. heheh, though i did occasionaly drop it and stab my poor toes. ah, but they are illegal here.
as for movies, errr, i only have umm, 3. and one is a duplicate.
i was considering getting a dvdburner.

hehe, dudes owed me some $, so i ended up getting paid off in video stores. i dont wanna run no freakin video stores. until recently, somebody ask me 'what movies you got?' and i would say,'all of them.' but im not even close.
say, does anybody know how many movies there are? like a rough estimate of the # of movies so far made? i know its conjecture what defines a 'movie' from just 'homemovie/crapontape', but im sure someone besides me has wondered how many there are.

I was considering going into the video store business at one time until I actually managed one....then I realised the amount of theft and the decreasing amount of private stores there are within the last 10 years..DvD is somewhat to blame but the main blame falls on Blockbuster and those types.
As far as how many movies?A shitload.Probably to damned many in my opinion....and that is not counting "What women Want" and the latest disney abortion. If you had to count...wouldn't you have to count home movies too?

yeah, i really couldnt define what a 'movie' would be, to get all precise in what is and what isnt considered a movie. like movies that were shot, then not released, or if a movie is really two or more other shitmovies spliced together, or like the semi-porn movies, then porn movies, then onto documentaries, blah blah blah.
ah, i will just guess wildly and say, they are movies, over 1 hour long, and have entertainment value beyond sex.
my guess, 80,000 movies fit that. im probably wrong.

I think I've read that IMDB has around 400.000 titles. Not all are movies though.. but then again, they don't have all movies made. You only have to look at very few asian movies to find that out.

But how many have you watched (properly, all the way through, giving it your full attention)?

That's what I thought. Who has the time to watch all of those? Will he ever watch them all? The collecting urge is a scary one! :-o

oh, i meant how many movies there are in existence, not that ive seen. i figured that would be a way off guess, i was thinking 80,000 different movies have played in theatres.
eh, my math may be off, but 80,ooo movies, at 90 minutes each, would be
7,200,000 minutes, or
120,000 hours, or
5000 days, or
13 years 255 days.(roughly, rounding a bit here and there/judge wapner comes on at 5, definately 5, defeinatly.)
---------------------------------------
adding in changing tapes/sleeping 8hours a day, and thats what, about 20 years of movies?
hehe, i tend to watch the same movies more often, ive watched 'horrors of spider island' quite a bit, and 'bloody new year' many times. though i havent gotten around to watching 'the lord of the rings' trilogy yet, they gotta be about 15 yours for the uncut versions of all three. i would guess in my life ive seen maybe about 6000 movies in about 30 years, not counting tv shows, just regular movies.
