haha cool way to go :beerchug: didn't even know ntl had a cableforum  what makes me laugh is if they dont seem to think they can handle users of 1, 2, and 3 meg going over 30gig a month.... then how will they cope with a complete collection of 10meg users?

if ntl ring me/send a letter i think ill just find a new isp and let them now how much of a mickey mouse operation ntl is (mickey mouse... they ain't even betty boop - Cat)

they always lose thousands of customers when they try and enforce/introduce a cap, they never seem to learn though that offering high speed internet then capping it is a bad business practise, although saying that the majority of dumb ass users will cower in fear, thus meaning ntl will have no need to persecute us people who actually know what broadband is for and use it as such

there isnt even a real problem anyway as most users probably only use broadband for msn and kazaa anyway  (the idiots) only a small percentage of the customers will use it properly for gaming/downloadeing/serving etc etc

Well I'm gonna be 512k uncapped from November got my letter earlier today.its odd allmost exactly like I was four months back before they brought in the new speeds, least theyve been fair enough to drop the cost to ?18.still high mind next to other isp's at this speed.

Ive two choices now hold out till May when the football season ends and swap my whole package to Sky Digital,or keep what ive got including this 512k (which i'll keep for free usenet) and get a 2nd line just for normal net use. They are infairness probably going to bring out higher bandwith unlimited packages which maybe will fit in with my use.

I'm happy uncapped @ 1mb with Bulldog for ?14.99 for the next six months, rising to ?19.99 for the remainder

I was wondering whether NTL had moved you down, what tariff were you on?

LOL, NTL and soon are rarely heard in the same sentance except referring to the perpetual state of "Coming soon"

"Coming soon" is just as famous to SmellyWaste customers. Gotta say I love my 10 meg for 35 quid connection, great speeds all the way, just wish for more upload.

well afta teh letter i got the whole situation has been hilarious!! bearing in mind i originally got busted for 194GB, then during the monitored month i grabbed about 120GB or so from teh mule, then there is my surfing habits (i watch quite a few hq streaming gigs) & also newsgroup/soulseek/BT d/l ing & i actually got a letter thanking me for my reduction in usage!! (not actually mentioning any amounts whatsoever in teh letter!) but reminding me they would continue to monitor me. i have heard nothing since... talk about a terrible way for a company to run their business. just what were they up to?

i havent received a letter off them at all, and i regularly go over my limit but saying that my net has been going really dodgy recently, makes me wonder if ntl are unofficially up to some tricks

Speaking of Napster, have you seen their new ad campaign? http://www.getthewholething.com . It puts all previous stripping and barely clothed ads to shame -- like the Paris burger thing and that GoDaddy girl thing. plus, this girl's got a bit more to her too, if you know what i mean.

HEHEHE theyve double backed on 1-2mb speed packages and from January we are uncapped again :P Bring it on folks

I know 2mb unlimited to alot out there seems poor but to us UK cable folks its great news.In fairness I understand why they cant manage to do the 10mb service uncapped imagine how many discs you'd go through a month using that nonestop.

The 10mb service is completely pointless - it's ~1MB per second or a Gb every 17Mins or 21 and a half hours constant use, before you hit the 75Gb cap

OR you could sign up for the 2mb service and download 21GB a day or ~630 Gb per month for LESS money, I cannot understand who in their right mind would use the 10mb service

from what i hear all 3 meg users had no choice whether they wanted to upgrade or not, they were upgraded whether they wanted it or not, and by the end of 2006 all other ntl services are also supposed to be upgraded to it aswell, maybe tehy will uncap it when everyone is on it but i highly doubt it, unless of course by then the few customers they have left now have gone

theres no way they'll upgrade everyone to 10mb,for one it would cost them millions to change all the old pace stb's (which can only reach speeds of 1.5mb's) for newer samsung ones, and more than a few longer using members have had to have their cable itself repulled for them to reach 10mbs (another massive cost for ntl)

Also alot of users still only use the net for surfing and are happy to have a cheap 300k service (which as gone upto 512k) no way they would be happy to be paying twice as much for a service they don't need.

Thirdly they know full well their network couldnt handle everyone on 10mb.And what would they do to users overusing if there was only one speed.

Personally 1mb is enough for me,I can get around the 10gb a day mark if I so choose, thats over 2 dvdr's enough work for me to sort those out more bandwith wouldnt give me time to sort out what I'd got.
