What a strange kind of story:
Aliens resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop human kind from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb).

Maybe I should go and check it out.

You should! It's considered the worst movie of all times by many, but not by me (I consider 'Manos' to earn that title). It is hilarious! If you don't know Ed Wood movies, go check them out, they are fantastic!
