Hi there. I've introduced myself in the introduction thread a long time ago so i guess i'm not really new, mostly just one o' dem lurker types who stops by now and again... anyhow I was just wondering if folks could tell me what films their avatars are from. Some seem pretty obvious, but some I have no idea.

it took me a while to figure out SMB stood for Super Mario Bros... i don't remember the creatures in that movie looking this good though. I'll have to rewatch it sometime.

yeah its weird how some director's make great sets/props look like crap, yet others can make make crap sets/props look great.

I mean dennis hopper looked real in Land of the Dead, but in Super Mario Bros he looked all fake and cheap. George Romero obviously knows how to use his props better.

Actually I was really super interested in Spudthedestroyer and Vermin's avatar's thinking I had missed some crazy great horror films. karstmobile for some reason I would have never guessed The Exorcist... who was Pazuzu? Was that what the priest turned into when he got possessed? Or was it a character from Exorcist II? I know it's debatable, but i feel that Exorcist was the scariest horror film ever created with Kubrick's The Shining coming in at a close second (course I was fairly young when I saw both). DropDeadFred, I haven't seen Creepshow in years and years (I vaguely remember a cockroach scene and something to do with a beach or something...). Stupid Trivia: I've never seen Drop Dead Fred the movie either, though I've always wanted too... I guess I always figured it was a silly kids film, but the FX in the film seemed pretty cool from the previews I've seen. What was the Crate sequence about. Vermin? That has got to be one of the coolest horror avatars ever... does Skinned Deep live up to avatar hype? I've seen the film at my local Hollywood video, but I can't for the life of me, remember watching it.... Believe it or not I do consider myself a bit of a movie buff (especially regarding horror and sci-fi films), but somehow I feel like a novice compared to you sickos :P
Apparently I have so much to learn...

Its the devil that flicks onto the screen at several point during the movie for a couple of seconds. Subliminal message style, like Tyler Durden in Fight Club (or infact Tyler Durden and his penises in disney films too ).

There's a scene early on where the devil flicks up, i think the young father is walking down a street when it first does it.

I think that one is from the remake.

The particular shot I use is when Ellen Burstyn is walking through her kitchen at night. I cropped it, polished it and grayscaled it though.

Those two are high on my list of scariest too.

Here's the thread on the Japanese Commercial, too bad the links to the whole thing don't work any more:

Exorcist was remade? You mean the anniversary edition? Its the same one just with the source prints cleaned up, but its definitely in the original exorcist movie :)

I'm pretty sure, although i'm going from memory, that's from the scene where he's walking down the street. I can be certain and dust off my dvd... but i am a very lazy person :wacky:

edit: oh wait, or was it where the priest jumps through the window?
