Post subject:  what movie?

I just remembered a part of a film I saw on the bbc when I was 10 or so

some paleontologist is examining a giant insect or fish in his study, he spills blood of the creature on his cigar/pipe which he later smokes & transforms in some sort of caveman

something like that ...

Yeah that was my first thought too... but it's not it. Peter Cushing
cuts himself on a prehistoric bone which starts to bring a creature back
to life. Great film though! I pretty much love anything Freddie Francis
directed. 8)

Sadly though, I don't know what film the original question
pertains to...
