i was just stoned sitting here and i began to ponder why the name dead donkey? and wondered if maybe it had to do with "Un Chien Andalou". im most likely very far off but i was just curious

ya-huh, its all down to it being an edonkey2000 site, even if its emule everyone uses. There's a few cultural uses of dead donkey in phrases and tv series, but its a use of the edonkey reference :)

Its an easy to remember url with alliteration.

The site was original called Horror Has a Home (http://horrorhasahome.host.sk), hence the HHAH reference.

I did not know that! Now it makes sense... :) Why was the domain
name changed to begin with?

because http://www.horrorhasahome.com is rather long, and dead-donkey seemed far more topical. If you mean from host.sk, the site became far, far too big for free hosts to handle. :)

Ah, good! I was about to post a topic with the question "What does HHAH mean?" in the title, and then I found the answer here! Maybe it's because I haven't rolled my first joint today ;)
