but i guess that's half the problem with the crappy filehost sites, most of them have no business model and can't attract enough gullable people to buy into paying for filehosting.

In terms of paying for file sharing, there's only one service that imo is worth the cost... that would be newsgroups:

This is because of their historical significance, technological advantages (distrubuted loads, openness, etc.)

I fear if you don't stick to the big freehosts then reliability is compeltely out the window. Even then, imageshack and photobucket aren't immune from financial collapse.

I meant, use photobucket or imageshack.us only if your wanting persistant images. They have a proven retention whereas I don't think there's another site that can meet such a level. Stick to known "brands" tis all

Tovaridge, for now, I'm trying to save by downloading hundreds (dunno exactly but it's impressive) of pictures (one by one, after clicking on the lhumbnail of each of them, cause there's no other way on filehigh) that I have uploaded there, then I have to rename them 'cause of course, filehigh gives a number to your picture and not the name you want), then backup them 'cause of course, each time I've uploaded a file on filehigh, I've deleted the original from my PC and I don't have them anymore.

Then I'll upload them on a new host (if I have the time to finish before they close the door definitly) then I'll edit all my topics and change the url's.

You can't imagine how stupide and painfull it is. I'd prefer to spend my free time to do something more constructive.

And about filehigh unknown by most of people... 2 years ago, when I had to search a host site, I made a research, a deep one and filehigh had a very good reputation on several serious sites.
