After yet another close shave at work I started thinking just how many times I have actually almost died. It scared the fuck out of me, dozens in the last 10 years alone, yet alone how many when I was younger. Anyone fancy sharing their own experiences? I will, just not tonight, far too far gone now to write anything else. |

I've had a couple of close calls...but worth mentioning...almost overdosed after coke&heroin base...woke up in E.R. Fell asleep while driving and crashed into a tree...wrecked my car...got away with only a few bruises and scratches. Both experiences indeed scared the shit out of me. |

The last few close calls I have had all involved large lumps of wood. By large I mean 2 or more tonnes. By close calls I mean almost fell on my head. It is quite worrying that I have come that close on several occasions. |

I was goofing around when I was 16, getting really high at Englewood Cliffs, smoking some leaked* schwag weed. Somehow, my one friend, who we called Mantis, started driving his Ford F250 pickup truck from the lot to the narrow paved road, despite our protest. SO I started flippin out and he just laughed and sped up. Apparently, I opened the door and let myself out, falling to the road cracking my skull, my head nearly run over by the back tire. They wouldn't take me a hospital so they dropped me off at home. Nice. * Leaked (or 'leak') is a ghetto way of getting high, where embalming fluid and/or phencyclidine (angel dust) mixture is added to cigarettes or joints or even bags of weed to be smoked or huffed. http://www.streetdrugs.org/embalm.htm |

Fucking hell, I was thinking again last night. I have been run over by a car, pretty much walked away unscathed, run over by a motor bike, been up a tree when it fell over, trapped in sea weed under water, loads of shit. What a fun life I have. A couple of days ago my t-shirt got snagged by a branch and it started to pull me into the wood chipper. This happens fairly often now though, knd of getting used to it. That in itself is worrying that I am becoming used to almost having an arm ripped off by a wood chipper. Shit, the other week a chainsaw came loose and dropped from about 40 foot up, that just mised me. |

I have had my close calls as well. Most are involving car and truck stunts, like trying to fix them and having them come down to top of you. Ouch. Ya if you are going to work on a car or truck, Jack Stands are a must. I use them now. But the worse brush with death was the time my friend and I where shooting off the guns. I shoot off a 12 ga. and some of the shoot hit a rock close by and came back and hit me in the side of the head. So off to the ER I go. Doc said there was some shot stuck in my skull. But I was lucky for it didn't penetrate my brain. That was the closes I have every came to death. The scare is really small. You can't even tell it's a scar. ![]() So thats my dumb ass stores. I am very careful now when I go shooting. ![]() |

It is real scary at first, this is no little chipper, this is one of the big bastards. It is a good lesson in not panicing. |

IS that some sort of sport in your country TaKYoN? Dodge the massive chipper? I think I just mite have to give it a go here. Down to a tree cutting place of business, I'm training for the Olympics. So how do you train and what are the rules? I know if you lose you can lose an arm. But what if you win? ![]() |

An old friend of mine reminded me of the time, long ago in my youth, when he set me alight. It was an accident ofcourse, but we were messing around with burning paint and napalming stuff. That stoopid wanker of a mate flung a load up the side of me, including the side of my head. Luckily we were literally on the shore line of an old chalk quarry that had flooded, I dove straight in, but it still left scars that took several years to fade away. I had totally forgotten about it untill he reminded me. I also had a potentially fatal heart condition once, that was fun. |

This is fucking brilliant, we are nutters really. I am just talking about really close shaves, if I listed just plain stupid things the list would be huge. One time I was on the 18th floor of a hotel and locked myself out on the balcony, for some reason I decided I could not wait for a friend to return to the room and let me in, so I started climbing balcony to balcony to get to another mates room. It was on the other side of the building. Police got called and everything, but the stupid arses let me go after I explained, almost as if it was OK. |

Mmm, I'm kind of inexperienced in this department. When I was 1 year old, I got some serious disease that would've killed me if my neighbour wouldn't have rushed me to the hospital. It was a case of every second counting, literally. When I was 11 years old, I almost got struck by lightning. When I was 14 years old, I got held up by two guys, one had a knife and put it on my throat. A classmate saw what happened and started to shout so they ran off. When I was 21 years old I was taking a hike on a rocky cliff of a Caribbean island. I tripped and fell over, flat on my belly. I was 5 cm off the edge of the cliff when I landed. When I was 23 years old, or somewhere in my twenties, I almost got hit by a bus, I managed to jump away from it in the last split second. Since then I'm leading a pretty quiet life, although my gf thinks I'm a killing machine on bike in the city ![]() |

Slayer, some nice instances. BTW be careful, here in Boston many adult kids get killed riding bikes. I thought of a few more times, but they are vague memeories, but my life was probably threatened. I was 12 and I lived in the Dominican Republic for several months, and I loved to snorkel/scube dive. the reefs were shallow and I could walk out 20 ft and snorkel and see great sites. Anyway, one time, my father and I were exploring, and we saw another diver in the distance freakout and swim frantically away. We had to investigate, so we swam ove rthere. The watar there was shallow, maybe 5-6' deep, but there was a 'wall' of coral in spots. Underwater we swim around one of the walls and BAM there is an at least 6 foot long barracuda, mouth wide open sharp teeth a few feet from us!!!! We slowly backed off, probably wetting ourselves. Then, when I was on vacation in Taipei, Taiwan at my father's wedding, we would drive around on the cluttered streets on a Vespa-style scooter (popular over there). Suddenly my father swerved hard. A utility truck of some kind nearly beheaded me with these sharp metal plates that protrouded feet from the back of the truck. My dad pulled over and rubbed his head calmly for minutes afterward so it mnusta been really close! ![]() |
