Post subject: | Question about R4 DVDs |
In my new hunt for Video Nasties on DVD, I found "Flesh for Frankenstein" on DVD, but it was a R4 DVD. Is it useful to buy such a DVD? What else can I do but play it on my PC? I'd like to be able to play it on my "shitty" (@spud ![]() Any help would be much appreciated. ![]() |

Since about 1996 dvds players have had unlock codes, so unless your player is really, really, really shitty even a crap box like the standalone you have should be unlockable. And if not you may want to consider not settling for mediocrity in your life ![]() Look for your <s>shit box</s> dvd player here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks |

Also worth noting that a lot of R4's are also R2 coded. |

Like I said, there's no unlock for mine:
Nevermind, maybe I can buy it and ask for some try out or something, especially since you guys tell me it will be R2 encoded as well. If so, do I need some extra stuff to make it work, or will it work just like a "normal" R2? |

Some of mine too, so I'll just repeat the question: If I rip the R4 DVD with DVD decrypter and then I burn it to a DVDr, is the protection gone? |

yes, css and macrovision is removed by dvd decrypter. The output is "untouched" (ie. not re-encoded) but is repacked and region free (Region 0) |
