..i`ve come across an issue that has me baffled...and it aint too often that happens...

..the it seems that EVERY single DSR rip that i`ve ever downloaded is overcropped to an insane degree (mostly at the top) exibiting things like half the fox logo on the bottom right on DSR rips of The Riches, lots of the edges of the screen missing on BSG S2 rips, and half of the "TV?? LV" logo cropped of the top on EVERYTHING.

I`ve asked about a few places but all i ever get is the standard abuse:-

1) its a TV show, learn what your saying before you bitch (made no sense)

2) wait a year for the dvdrips or fuck off (made a touch more sense than the last one)

3) wait for the aXXo rip, aXXo is the best, or FOAD, you must have a shit tv
(obviously braindead)

...my question is i suppose, is there a reason and it doesent have to be a good one but a valid one would be nice... why is every DSR like this?

...oh and why dont "the scene" get all anal over them for the bad cropping?

I've only really noticed "bad cropping" on BSG to be perfectly honest with you, and there its not actually all bad cropping, its scifi's huge watermark that makes it seem really badly cropped. It has to be sliced and diced to ensure its fully cropped.

If you look at series 2 rips from universal hd or sky one (hd or normal), you'll see the watermarking is fine because it all resides within the picture,

Scifi is largely to blame for that one; something they are incredibly guilty for across a lot of their shows.

All that said, there are some groups that put out some persistantly poorer rips; what needs to happen is other groups call them on the rips and proper them. Too many nukes and the group gets kicked out of the scene.

..ahh so i take it that it`s a case of crop out all black bars at the expense of losing some logo that resides in those bars...

..which kinda makes sense,.

The thing that`s really annoying me at the minute though is the "animated logos" like i`ve seen on NBC HD (bionic woman, chuck & journeyman) with the little pictures and rolling overlays, way to obscure half the picture dude...

..the one during SGA almost does cover half the screen, they advertise shows before the show, during the ad breaks, and after the show... ..why in the hell do the now feel the need to advertise a show DURING a show.....

...and with that rant over... i`m tired and i need a smoke.....

...i reckon it could well be another M.A.F.I.A.A tactic to discourage piracy i mean who would wanna keep a rip thats got more pop ups than your average porn site....

...they have screen obscuring pop ups and tickers, they compress the credits to half a screen to show something in the HALF A SCREEN they`ve stolen back there while often talking over the music....


...tv seems to be more advertising than show now.... after all when watching domestic shows (UK) then i`m paying for the privilige of being advertised to so if theve figured that ad breaks dont work and they need to advertise during the show then why have ad breaks (for shows) at all they should admit that they`re all sucking satan`s cock and make the entire ad break for products... after all most of the shows now are sponsored by one product or another........aaghh left arm going stiff, heart pounding....vision blurred...

I'll tell you what is far more annoying than the cropping of logos which can lead to overcrops.... the rips for family guy and american dad!

WTF is wrong with those rips, lines flicker like mad and they some out looking like one passes... anyone else noticed that weird and highly annoying flickering? Both by XOR. I'm not sure if its a poor capture card, bad deinterlacing or a 1pass, but if i had the setup I'd call them and nuke them for the rips "looking like the inside of an ass". Very strange to see rips that poor a quality.

Its either a crappy capture card, or more likely shite capture card settings and a low quality one pass for the sake of speed.
