Hi !

I don't know what the fuck is going on, but I have just check out something in my eMule that is VERY strange. In the files Tales From The Darkside that i'm downloading, I can see a Client that has the same name has me, and using a Client call : eMule v6.66a [C_M_B UPPED HERE]. Does anyones now what the hell is going on !!!??? :evil:
When I double click on him, to see his details, it said that he's from USA, and i'm not, I'M from Canada, and he's connected to the server Razorback 3.0, that I'M NOT CONNECTED TO, and he has a LowID, that I don't have, I have a HighID, so, all this shit is very strange to me, so, heres two pictures about what I can see, so if anybody have any ideas on what this is, this could be pretty nice cause it's freaking me out...

And i'm using the ipfilter v0126
My Vista is up-to-date
I have PeerGuardian 2
I've check with HijackThis
I've check my computer with some Anti-Spyware, well, 3 programs since there is not much Anti-Spyware that work on Vista x64 so, i've run SpyBot Search & Destroy 1.5, Ad-Aware 2007 and Windows Defender, and so far, nothing, my computer seem to be clean. I've run a virus scan too with Avast 4.7, nothing there too... :(

And i've check on Google about that eMule v6.66a and there is no software or mod with that name... and no C_M_B UPPED HERE either... :?

Thanks in advance for anyone that know something ! Maybe i'm not the only one who realize this ! :o Or maybe it's only my computer that is fuck ! :wacky:

eMule version: Could be a custom built version of eMule, since it is open-source.

About the username, i've just change it, and ''the ghost'' name change too ! I've tried two times, the name change too. So, I don't think it's a ''real person'', but something else... What, I don't know, but that never happen to me before... and why is this only for Tales From The Darkside files, and not the others ?

Maybe it's because i've installed a firewall a few days ago, but why it would do that ? The firewall i've installed is FortKnox Personal Firewall 2007. I don't know if this mean anything... anyway

The guy is using a mod with the "Nick-thief" feature. It mirrors all names, meaning that you are the only one to see your own name. If the same guy connects to me, I will see my name.

The idea behind this is to take advantage of the "Community boost" feature, that has been declared an unwanted / leecher feature by the eMule developers, but it is still implemented in some mods. This "Community boost" feature allows users to choose certain tags (for example VeryCD, HHAH, ...), and people having this tag in their nick will get a boost to climb up the waiting lists faster.

The "Nick-thief" feature however is completely harmless, and you can just ignore it ...

I believe that you can only ban people in the way that you can't download from them, but not the other way around. At least this is what I'm experiencing.

Once there was a server online from which I started downloading and all files for which I downloaded chunks from that server resulted in broken files. Meaning that after the download finished (or even earlier) eMule reported an error and loss of data. I banned the IP of that server and noticed that the server is downloading from me. So hence my first passage.

Well, i've just found his IP in my Morph Log, so i've put his IP in my ipfilter.dat file. :twisted: Let's hope that it will work, and that he won't change his IP for a long time !!! :wink: But that's too bad for others users in eMule that want this serie, cause they might think that's me, but he's not, just for that, this suck...

@johnathome : How do you manage to get this fix btw ? he just disappear ?

I experienced this the other way around. Some guy was downloading a movie from me and he appeared to have the same name. A few hours later he finished downloading and disappeared. Never saw him again.

It must have been this "Nick-Thief" feature.

No, that will not be the case. Since he is mirroring your nick, other people will not think he is you, they will think he is them.
