Post subject: | Thank you. |
I realize there is a "newbie introduction thread", but I'd prefer this note to be a bit more exposed. The several other "Thank you" topics have all got a bit sidetracked, so I decided not to hijack and open this new thread. - Growing increasingly fond of older horror movies recently, I decided to stock up on such fulms. As I'd read only the best about this forum in various places, I decided to take a quick browse through the respective section of the board - needless to say, the quick browse evolved into a several hour long link clicking spree. ![]() As I started in the back, on page 50, I did not want to bump up tons of 4 year old threads by posting "Thank you" notes in all of the ones I was taking links from. With this post, I'd like to make good on that; allow me to express a big "Thank You!" to all of you who keep this great board running, who share your own rips with the rest of us, who bring releases from newsgroups/BT to ed2k, and of course also those who simply verify files already on the network. I'd especially like to mention the posters who stuck out most on the pages I dug through, and of whom I'd already encountered countless high quality rips via the integrated emule search over the past couple of years - before I even knew this forum existed. Namely, in no particular order: Random Runner ~ spudthedestroyer ~ STR ~ Polityk ~ infect ~ Dr Phibes ~ Koffkongen ~ ThEdEaDLiVe ~ Mr.Flibble ~ superfunky ~ John_Doe ~ avatar ~ satan ~ MCMLXXXVIII ~ biggy666 ~ gaspadin ~ Dead-Horse ~ wargand ~ OdiumX ~ Bonnie_Parker ~ video-man ~ DxaKrator ~ PyNhEaD ~ Bassline ~ monkeysmasher ~ El Mariachi ~ KU-RI-SU-TO-FU ~ PECKATSWE ~ PC_Arcade ~ d0c ~ paul-scream22 ~ xacco ~ Purple.Nightmare ~ poenightmare ~ charybdis ~ Rotten Popcorn ~ ohgodnotanotherone ~ pokiki ~ Iconoclast ~ harry_potter ~ trep ~ DropDeadFred ~ Lafayette ~ carlos66 ~ koxxxx ~ Maccie ~ ViSCeRaL ~ PAiN ~ Soiled Panties ~ Katya ~ emoboy ~ Death ~ Slayer ~ the entire ShitBusters crew ~ trep ~ Jess ~ kinkyqueen ~ Akharo ~ Ferox ~ G3rMaNIaC ~ GenerX ~ cybersatan ~ Font ~ manzarek ~ RoTTeN ~ Gorehound ~ zeppogrouxo ~ Maccie ~ Dr.Sapirstein ~ Killjoy Many thanks to all of you, and to all the ones I forgot - I'm sure there are several. I'd agree with most of that list, with a handful of exceptions, but poenightmare for Christ's sake? This geezer brought NOTHING to this community, all he did was to use emule search and spam the verified sections of the boards with unverified releases, most of which could never be completed, and the bulk of those that were genuine could be found here anyway albeit by trawling though the collections. Thankfully he crawled back to the gutter he came out of a few weeks later. |

I feel quite honoured to be on the list with so many more "famous" rippers. Thanks for the thanks, like PC_A said. |

Me too enjoyed to play Jagged Alliance. The only problem with it was, that it crashed so often that I had to uninstall it lately. ![]() Btw. I once mentioned the game to a person and he was like "what do you play? Jack Daniels?". That made me think: "OMFG!". He had no clue whatsoever about the game. Anyhow, welcome! I hope to post some movies someday. Currently I am thinking about posting an uncut wide-screen version of Pumpkinhead. But since I have no idea how to even RIP a DVD ![]() |

And I feel quite pissed off that my group is not mentioned when those such as satan and poenightmare who have done nothing but damage to the community are ![]() I wouldn't expect to appear on the list personally but I would expect my group to as we have worked bloody hard to get some of the most obscure shit we could find onto this site. PS if you don't know who the group is then that's because I/we don't want you to know ![]() |

I'm sorry to have caused you such grief with this, my personal list of "thank you"s. I'm sure you've contributed a lot to this site and the network in general, but if you read my fist post again, you'll notice that I started in the back, on the last page of the horror section. Working from there, I did not get to the more recent entries; the threads I clicked were all about four years old. I just double-checked, and on the pages I went though are two posts made by you, neither of which I took a link from. From poenightmare's threads on the other hand, I grabbed around 30 movies - only few of which are sourceless (that, I found to be acceptable, regarding the age of the posts). As I am new here, how would I have known he's done "nothing but damage to the community"? I did not do a background check on every name I included in my list. ![]() For the same reason: No, I do not know which group you belong to, and while I'm again sure its contributions are vast, I just haven't stumbled upon their releases yet. I hope you can understand I couldn't work up the tenacity to go through all 50 (or 51 by now) pages of 50 threads each in one go, let alone take the risk of over-feeding the good ol' mule in the process. I'll expand the list as I go along and new names keep popping up, and I'm sure you'll find your group's name on it sooner or later. Till then, my apologies for stepping on your (or any one else's for that matter) toes with this listing - I did not mean any disrespect to certain parties not included; I'm simply, and by far, not through the whole forum... yet. ![]() - RedVeil, have you tried installing the latest patches? Earlier versions of the game are very prone to crashes; more recent ones haven't caused any trouble for me at all (WinXP here). |

I don't care that you added satan and poenightmare. At least for funny flame wars they were good for. ![]() |

Nope. But I tried the cheats and they worked pretty well. ![]() Here is a list of things that makes me prefer Jagged Alliance 1: - action is always dynamic, not precalculated (in JA2 opponents will always do the same things once it's their turn - if you don't kill them of course) - better colors not making such a depressive atmosphere - fewer sectors - not so complicated system for training / hireing natives - gameplay is much easier to master I could play the game in english even though I couldn't understand a word. It was so intuitive -> simply great. JA2 doesn't deliver that feeling. I loved JA1 but hated JA2 (mainly for crashing of course - crashed the whole system). |

No worries, ignore me, I was having a bad day in real life and over-reacted. My group is pretty well inactive these days anyway. |
