They are different, because they are japanese of course. But since you mentioned you like japanese movies - I think you will find them better.

Noroi, Ringu (of course), Kakashi was creepy, I know I've enjoyed more than those, but I can't think of any right now.

Is this a different movie from Meatball Machine? Or is it the same movie?

Other movies not mentioned yet but worth watching, are:

Visitor Q
Wild Zero
The Story of Ricky (although that's Chinese, I believe)

There's a few non-Japanese movies on bicho's list, but they are all worth a go.

I don't post on here much but w/e I like Asian movies so can share a little with you.

Someone here recommended Tetsuo, well I saw that and didn't like it, too weird and boring., sorry. If anyone else has seen it tell me what you think cause I just didn't like it.

Miike Takashi's Audition is a classic, it's a horror movie as such but doesn't play out as one. If your downloading it and it's free then you've got nothing to lose.

Versus, it's a horror/zombie/action movie, playing more on the side of action. Gun-fu and some swords, an enjoiable movie but not going to scare or haunt you really. Alot of fun though.

Though not strictly Japanese or Horror, sorry I can't recommend Oldboy enough, excellent Korean cinema, part of the Vengance trilogy which someone previously listed.

Bio Zombie, is a chinese horror(zombie)/comedy, enjoiable and funny, not frightning.

Some of the movies I listed, they arn't Ring style creepy, because I don't like that type of movie, here are few I haven't seen but names that are thrwon around, oh and these are Asian, not just Japanese:
Tale of Two Sisters
The Eye
Dark Water
Phone
Ring Virus (Korean take on the ring)
JSA

They are in more of the Ring vein.

When I started out watching there wasn't loads about, I remember watching Asian titles like Blue Spring, Waterboys, Battle Royale, Dragon Head, I can't remember many more I'm afriad I was only about 13-14. I remember ordering DVD's from Yes Asia, The Twins Effect, a weird horror/comedy with Jackie Chan about vampires and stuff like that.

Well I hope the list helps, enjoi.

I believe the movie is Thai but, anyway it is called 303 Fear, Faith, Revenge. Its not one of those typical long haired Jap ghost flicks. I also recommend Junk which was a pretty good asian zombie flick.

I've heard Junk is ment to be very good. I thought of another few movies I've heard of.

I mentioned Versus before, the same director, did Azumi about a samurai girl, I haven't seen it, it's ment to be good.

Godzilla Final Wars is another of his, I liked it but if you not a fan of monster movies then avoid it.

I got Stacy on DVD, think it's about a zombie fighting school girl. Ha

Godzilla Final Wars is the WORST Godzilla movie ever. If you want to watch G-movies, watch older ones. One of the newer ones I liked is Godzilla vs Biollante, but G: Final Wars is total shite.

Stacy is about schoolgirls turning into zombies and picking people who need to chainsaw them into pieces themselves while they're still alive. Stacy is recommended: good fun.

Audition is supposed to be freaky, I haven't Seen it but I've heard good things, and of course theres Godzilla. I'd recomend The original uncut gojira and it sequel Godzilla raids again both have good feels to 'em.

The only Godzilla I saw if Final Wars, if you have seen any other of Kitamura's movies they tend to be more style over substance, It worked for Versus (I think so) and I enjoi'd Final Wars, but haven't seen Azumi or such.

Watch Attack the Gas Station, it's Korean, it's funny and I really liked it.
