Since fileheaven is down, I recon you guys are the best to ask....

Gamespot says both games should've been released yesterday, but I can't seem to find them.

You should be able to get both in stores you lazy bitch! :lol:
GTA IV is securom so you are going to have to buy that you cheap sod ;) Or wait two weeks or so. There's four or five clone dvds but its all pretty pointless until its cracked.

Prince of Persia... well I didn't know there was a new one out, but thre's nothing on news.

I've heard that there is a PoP movie being made, think it was Jake Gyllenhaal starring.
I hope they made it so it looks like the first old PC game, side scroller style! :rock:

i am in the case of gta iv. Same for Empire: Total War and fable 2 when they come out.

In fact i'd buy from steam now if the system wasn't so wank for anyone outside of the US.

it only costs $50 on steam, steam is not localised (I can't pay in either euros or GBP) and i don't really think its worth the money until they do this. I'd only really buy valve games from it, but i like it being the backend for the games for the cross-game/friends list/single launch panel. i'm not paying for that version; the 'full of bugs' is people going on about steam issues in general with their pc and / or are running on low end machines (what do you expect? :lol: ) or without updating their graphics driver

Notice how many bugs are fixed by updating to vista sp1 and their drivers :wacky:

I'm back in the uk next week, next saturday in fact. I am going to buy the game and install it.

If you wish i can report back on whether I get any bugs? I suspect not, people always seem to be hit by a lot of bugs but I think its generally because they don't know what they are doing.

My general pc rules are:
Hardware
  • Check hardware compatability with OS before buying (der!) - google
  • Don't expect everything to work on *nix

Software
  • Update your OS whenever there's a security or crash fix; get the latest stable drivers on initial setup
  • Only update your graphics card driver when necessary, always check for one before a new game comes out because its likely they'll have optimised it for that game. Rollback a version if you get graphical issues.
  • Do not install shit you don't need, uninstall it afterwards if its temporary and clean out the dead directories
  • Do not automatically install shit to the default directory, put games in c:\games, applications in c:\applications or on different drives.
  • Compile from source if you are on nix and avoid package managers for anything but libraries; --prefix configure to a location of YOUR choosing.

Its amazing how many people buy a pc world integrated graphics card pc, install shit indescriminantly, use ie and other flakey apps, and then wonder why nothing works correctly :lol:


I'm guessing I won't have a major problem, but i'll let you know... in case its worse than I suspect. People said the same about BioShock when it came out. The only crashes i had with that were through heat + high geometry + high res. Could have been better optimised but a simple case of overheating there.

I expect a lot of low level bugs like you saw in the xbox and ps3 versions though :)

do you really believe that? crackers are bored by doing the same cliche cracks on all new games. They thrive for a challenge. I know I've seen at least 4 or 5 .nfo's where the cracker gives thanx to the developer for making the cracking job especially interesting.

it'll get there... it might take a little longer than usual, but it'll get there. believe you me. :rock:

yeah, i think Rockstar has spent a lot of dev time adding in checksums and feature degradation, when by the sounds of it it would have been better spent playtesting on different machine configurations :lol:

I think they'll get a bad rep from people who play the incorrectly cracked version and complain that its 'broken' :lol:

1 and 2 is ok but the rest wtf!!, pirated or not dosent matter.... talk about user friendly shit, looks like the easy "install and play" time is over... if this install crap keeps up even rocket scientist and captain obvious will have problem, bloathware windows are destroying the pc as a gamer platform... and when it comes to rockstar, they can stay on the ps2 platform, since they cant code anything else without fuckups.

 Install Notes

 3. Install game, including rockstar social club and xlive
 4. Copy crack from DVD1 over original files
 5. Start the game, but skip logging into rock star social club
 6. When prompted, download and install the xlive update
 7. Start the game
 7. Press the home button and create a new xlive offline account
 8. Play!

 If you need any support for this game, buy it.
 But one hint might be to use the flags: -norestrictions and -nomemrestrict for
 launchergtaIV.exe.

Well that nfo came from the release @ http://www.nzbsrus.com ; the GTA IV complete and just the crack were posted there.
Not confirmed it works btw, just saying they've released something.

I'll be playing this saturday or sunday; when i pick up a retail copy (probably sunday :lol: ).
