.. if the releaser fails to mention vital info?

I normally say, always leave file tags in their original form, but unfortunately these sometimes leave out vital information. I mean if I were to click a link, knowing it to be dubbed in english. Do you think it's fine to add dub.eng. for example?

I would have thought it would be an obvious thing to state if it is hard subbed or dubbed in any language that is non-native, but some aren't, and this is english dubs as well.

I have a few downloads I know to be dubbed in english but are untagged, would you think it's right to rename the links adding .dub.eng?

Interested to hear people's opinions :)

would you mind people altering your tags if you do something like that though?

But then again, all that's being added is obvious info so I don't see how it could annoy any releaser.

All dubs should be erased from the earth, and all mimes too :matrix:

As long as the original file name is intact, I believe it to be perfectly acceptable to add additional info.

I know alot of my ACF releases are on ed2k under various different names, alot of people have added the language i.e. korean, cantonese, mandarin etc, becuase this was unnessary for english people, but if you search and see an ACF title it would be good to know the original language!
But all have kept paul-scream22

Adding additional names i.e websites, or clients is not on though

tagging for advertising is a no brainer, I don't like it, I don't mind addition but replacing is just gay.

Anyways, I'm just thinking of sorting out films I put on the frontpage, if I add dub.eng it might help prevent the annoyance of dubbed films :) same for releases posted on the forums that turn out to be dubbed.

Advertising = NO

Further info = YES

Spud, I'd go ahead and do it, you're only helping files get spread by labelling them for what they are, and are not getting any gain out of it!

Only a moron would complain!!!

I have had a few files that I have done been untaged on me but I figure this sort of thing happens, nothing I will lose sleep over.I have even had people post my shit on other forums without my even knowing about it as well, fileheaven beeing one of those sites,it doesn't bother to much though as I have stated before I do it to get it out there and it's not like I will ever receive any reward for it besides beeing able ot get things for myself in return.
As far as the adding dubbed tags,I think if it's a movie that is made in a foriegn laguage then I say yes do so,a prime example of this is Scarlet Diva ed2k: Scarlet.Diva.avi  [701.15 Mb] [Stats]
no english dubbing and no subs, yet you look at the filename and wouldn't have a clue as to what the hell it is in,so yes the more info the better as far as I am concerned.Would save alot of time for everyone I would think. One handy thing I do is look at the file specs in donkey and it will show any other names that have been typed in for that file,I realize most people know about that feature but some noobs might not.Basically if I see just the movie title and that is it I assume that it is in english, case in point the scarlet diva movie I had mentioned earlier which is in french or italian (didn't pay that close attention since I was checking out Asia's body anyway)So in that case I wish somebody would have stuck something up there to let me know, yes there is the preview option but that is not something I really use and have had files corrupt on after doing it.I think that is enough rambling on my part for this post

i think spud meant not tagging non-english releases as such, but dubbed releases, assuming that the file is always in its original language. english dubs are not so common anyways (maybe more in horror), it?s more german or spanish dubs for a movie that is not originally shot in those languages. sometimes releasers just don?t know better or release for a small community without thinking that the file would attract users from other places that do not read the release thread somewhere, so yes, it should be added, maybe in the way group releases are tagged with PROPER or something.

My opinion:
1. No tags should be added if they don't contain INFORMATION about the file.
2. If there is some vital information the releaser forgot to mention in the filename, it's his fault (not that I blame him, only I can't see the reason why he shoud protest against adding some info). Language version is very important, and therefore it should be pointed out in the filename if it's not as it would presumably be expected, namely - if the language version is not the original one.
3. Non-English movies should not be tagged with lang. info as such, because it's natural eg. for a Spanish flick to be in Spanish. Language info can be found on imdb. We should only report deviations such as dubbing and hardcoded subs.

Exactly what I tried to do with this STR release :

Last.Shark(1980)[L'Ultimo_Squalo]Eng.Lang(Jap.Sub).STR.avi

But if i did just :

Last.Shark(1980)[L'Ultimo_Squalo].STR.avi

Then you'd be a bit upset by the download!

Although theres always the nfo, but people rarley find nfo's when they are searching for videos through emule!

My intentions to tag would be for example, on this filename:

ed2k: Lucio.Fulci.-.Manhattan.Baby.avi  [616.17 Mb] [Stats]

it is infact dubbed in english, therefore I would alter it to say:

ed2k: Lucio.Fulci.-.Manhattan.Baby.(1982).dub.eng.avi  [616.17 Mb] [Stats]

and similarly:

ed2k: cat.in the.brain.ripped.by.ferox.uncut..avi  [695.31 Mb] [Stats]

would be:

ed2k: Cat.in the.Brain.(1990).dub.eng.ripped.by.ferox.uncut.avi  [695.31 Mb] [Stats]

or perhaps:

ed2k: Cat.in the.Brain.(1990).[dub.eng,ferox,uncut].avi  [695.31 Mb] [Stats]

[ Add all 5 links to your ed2k client ]
