well ntl man came and swapped my stb over and changed signal levels yesterday and happy happy joy joy looks like my connection is sorted(touch wood)
connection was lost several times a day and have been gettin kicked off of big servers (sedg, razorback etc) after 20 mins, most files were coming down less than 1k per second and my downloads total ave speed was 10-20k(max is 75!) and i thought most probs were with my mule not stb.
well my connection has been up 4 over 24 hours now, i have been connected to sedg all that time, ave speed is now 40-50k and have seen a single file at 35k
stability......................bliss :D :D :D

hopefully should be a more reliable source once again

ACTUALLY THIS TIME IT WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE!! - yeah i still in shock (after previous dealings with calls up2 1.5 hours long!!!!)
well i dialed their # on wednesday @16:00 and as soon as thru the auto system got answered within 30 seconds(yeah that reads seconds not minutes!!) and within 5 mins had spoke 2 tech AND fault departments, got an engineer arranged 4 08:00-12:00 slot the very next morning AND spoken 2 cust services and made an official complaint about my previous dealings.
the engineer turned up at 08:30 and within a few mins was all sorted.........or is this still tuesday nite and i still dreaming :D

anyway got a lot of catching up 2 do as i still got about 50 files paused whereas normally only have 5 or so paused.

LOL, PrayeR - Only joking, could just imagine PCA posting saying something about you replicating my POST.

You still on emule then or has your ISP blocked the port and forced you off?

Out of interest Prayer, how can they have "closed all p2p ports"?

Just use port 21 for emule, port 8080 or port 80 I guarantee those ports are open

they closed outgoing connections to those ports...
in emule when my client ask u or somebody else for source, place in queue etc. it connects to port specified in options in ur client.
most of peeps have 4661
i can not connect to this port or any p2p ports.
lol. incoming connections r alowed
but it has no sence without up-conections.

err, let me get this straight, your ISP has closed the upload traffic on ports 21,80 and 8080 ?
How are you browsing this site prayer?

easy,
but how many peoples set their emule ports to 80,21,8080?
i CAN NOT change ports my client connects to.
it connects to ports which other users specified in options.
i can change only port which is used by other peoples to connect to me.
but not ports i connect to.

yeah, i can run emule still...
but if before that shit i saw >1000 sources. usually.
now i c 10...
why? becouse i c only peoples with not standart emule ports.

That's not how emule works, if you change your emule to port 21 TCP then you will have High ID again and will see all those sources, have you tried it??

My emule is not set to 4662 and I've never had low ID and I'm not short of sources either

OMG men...

ok, u have file.
i connect to server, start this file, server sends me your IP.
after that I HAVE to connect to u. right?
so what port on your machine will be used?!
random? port that i wrote in settings in my emule?
nope.
one that u wrote in settings (default 4662)
so i need to send to u TCP or UDP packet on this port. right?
BUT ALL OUTGOING CONNECTIONS to this port R RESTRICTED!

SO i can connect only to users with not default port. there r few of them...

and if somebody will set FTP on port 4662 - i won't be able to connect 2.

Prayer, you are so wrong.

Still, enjoy your low ID, it could so easily be fixed.

PrayeR, That's not how I always thought edonkey worked. You transfer out via port 80 (outgoing), it connects to their port 4662 incoming. You don't use your port 4662 at all in such a transfer.

Spud,PCA
but to get in queue. get hash etc. from source
i have to send request to source

localhost:xxxx port ---TCP/UDP packet----> remote host: "port that entered in preferences of emule"

i can change ports that use emule on my machine
but i can not change ports of remote machine.
i have to connect to port that use emule on remote machine.
and most of peoples have default port
and router cut off any connections that goes from my machine (any port, that i entered) to remote machine on port 4662.

like example, i can not connect to any server with default port. (SEDG, Razorback). my router just does not let me.
but i can connect to Lovepointz, becouse i connect to 4242 port...

i know that usually admins/IPS's close 4662 port for incoming conections.
that means u still can run emule, but u have LOWID. so u work like in "passive mode".
in my case, incoming conections r alowed, but outgoing - nope.
admin/isp r really nasty and bed...

run
netstat or another programm
and c ur connections
u'll c that most of remote points for emule conections r
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:4662
