Post subject:  Is Shareconnector.com now dead, too?

for about two days now, i haven't been able to enter the homepage.

could it be that like SR it has been closed?

BTW, the-realworld.de decided to stop sharing movies and went back to the roots of only sharing tv series:

Quote:
"So how will the closure of Sharereactor affect TRW?"

This was the question I got asked the most during the last days. Well, after quite a lot of thinking and receiving input from the supermembers as well as from others, the decision is to remove all ed2k movie links from the site and to close the movie related forums for the time being. As soon as it's absolutely safe they will return, but as the current situation just is too uncertain, I believe it's best to concentrate on what this site was about when it started - TV-Shows only.
I'm sorry to be more or less forced to do this, but I believe that it is the best action to take so secure the future of this page.
Additionally, the page is not forced to find a new host and Simon will continue to support and to protect TRW as best as he can.

Regarding donations for Simon to help him pay his legal bills: according to Melange's News on jigle.com Simon doesn't think that this is a good idea at the moment, so I simply won't ask for any financial support of his - at least not at this point. Those who want to donate anyway can use the information provided on jigle.com to do so.
Do not use the donations button on this page, although all donations received for my site will go to Simon anyway, if he decides to ask for help. If he won't ask, the donations will be used to upgrade the TRW server and to support every other ed2k page which might be in need of something.

I hope this covers the most important questions and to prevent lots of messages or mails - I won't go into more detail about Simon's case or situation!

i just hope that the closing of such sites isn't spreading... :?

Well personally i think they are being daft, but then what would I know ;)
There's been a total overreaction after SR went down, its... well daft. But let them eat cake.

Shareconnector is merely having server troubles, nothing more. If you got onto their page two days ago you would have seen 'server problems' as the latest news article.

eh, with that bullshit 'broadcast flag' law passes in the usa, along witht he redifining of fcc's powers, sharing television shows is illegal now, too, as i understand it. i also have unconfirmed info of a recent law passed that makes it a 1-year possible jail sentence in the usa for not supplying copyright info beyond the normal, i.e. your company name, business address, and other info on EVERY copyrighted work. that includes say, i make a song about fishes, put it on the internet for free, if i do a usual 'all original works copyright 2003 monkeysmasher industries' and nothing else/no business contact info, i could be arrested and get a 1 year sentence.
now that is just sad.
man, i bitch about these things constantly, but people just dont seem to comprehend how bad things are being shaped to become, and are presently becoming at a faster rate. sure, you may say 'but i dont live in the USA, it doesnt affect me!!'
but the USA probably owns, or will own your countries, so once it's law here, get ready to get down on your knees and start sucking it down too, boys. usa is just the testing ground for these crazy laws, because we're basically a mass of idiots, but your next. look at canada, they started, and the uk has begun to sue.

you think what ive done on occasion here is amazing, you should see me juggle poodles. seriously, it's a lot harder then it would seem.

ah, if i watch people, i can usually figure out most/all of thier motives, or at least interprate thier intentions thru thier previous actions and composure of themselves close enough to determine thier future actions. i would say i can do it quite accurately when actually physically able to observe and interact with them. i have been accused of psychic abilities, but no, some people are either too stupid or too transparent in thier actions. larger scale of people isnt as easy sometimes, most would think a large group of people to be easy to judge, though there are myriad facets to the p2p/copyright predicament, the most obvious thing to me is the decimation of our 'rights', or the 'gray areas' that we tend to use, and now the full-out removal of anything resembling 'free use'. eh, i'm no brainiac, mr top 2% mensaman, but watching, waiting, predicting actions, and successfully using it to my own benefit is just another reason i was able to retire in my early 20's,( though modestly), and why i can juggle poodles.

ah, it's back up. :D it really was just the server:

Back once again

After a long day of being down for 14 hours we are finaly back again. Something is wrong with the server so we have moved to the backup server for now. We will need to buy a new server so we can handle the huge traffic and keep the site fast and stable. For this to happen we will have to ask for donations which will be posted later on with details.

They are trying a whole host of options to chuck the mainstream crap right back out, as of yet they are finding trouble doing so though.
