As an emule user since 0.22c I've fought, and advised, everyone in any forum at any discussion over the virtues of the ed2k network. However, I recently, and inadvertently, clicked on a BT link. I didn't even know I had a BT client installed on my puter. Anyway I left it running and by next morning the file had completed (so unlike emule).

Anyway, I now find myself searching for torrents  . And they download damn quick. I know how ed2k is better, that retention is much longer but geez torrents do hammer my 1MB connection to the full. And I'm ashamed to admit I actually turned off emule for a few days

So should I just confess my sins and go back to the mule, or stay with my new found buddy Bittorrent....woah is me!! I need help methinks

Do what the majority do mate and try and balance them both!!!

I do

For instance I just got the latest episode of South Park in minutes from BT at a storming 110kb/s :o

No eMule could have done that!

But in a few weeks time emUle will be the place to get that episode!

So it's perfectly faithfull to dip into to both barrells ;-)

Infact BT and eMule seem to have fitted nicely together formed a releationship (which ones the bitch though - :P )

So Turn off the mule when that latest rip comes out and you want it, coz the files will laways be there in edonkey for you (for alot longer anyway!)

@ Mr Scream, you summed it up cool mate, I gotta say I tend to leech from BT tho. On the mule my uploads for something are always atleast 120%, but on BT the thing goes so fast I have only upped 100 meg by the time that 700 meg avi is down. On BT I can down at 260K plus, well under an hour for a 700 meg avi.

Pay no notice to TaKYoNtheKoRRuPTeD killingjokezzz, he just likes to show off his connection :P

BT is all about swarm downloading, masses of people are all after the file so theres plenty of clients to connect to and get bandwidth!

And the majority of BT releases wind up on eMule for them long run anyway!

KILL THE INFIDEL.... ok ok so BT isnt that bad really... your safe killingjokezzz

i use eMule and BT, and yes its true most BT releases do end up on the mule eventually

and i also do tend to leech off BT, because using the original BT client (anyone wanna point me a better one) it jsut sucks having to elave the windows all open after completeing clogging up my taskbar, but i do share on eMule

but for gods sake whatever you do DONT EVER try running BT and eMule together, MY GOD that will jsut cause huge b/width problems, as ive never got BT to wrok properly while emules open

The 2 I use the most are :

<a href="http://www.suprnova.org" target=blank>SUPRNOVA</a>
<a href="http://www.torrentbits.org" target=blank>TorrentBits</a>

Suprnova is one of the better BT sites with all manner of links and pretty well laid out!

TorrentBits you have to register for but is worth it if you really get into BT.

Most people just stick with Suprnova and links posted in FileHeaven or here!

jeez, so i am the only one still snailmailing and recieving handwritten 100101010101010101's page after page after page of papers, then typing them in by hand?
i distrust any form of this heathen witchcraft programs! foul sorcery! upgrading software and changes are the devil's work.

eh, i hadnt tried bit torrent, but my isp has really choked off regular p2p, and this time, i think they did it so it actually wont let me get around thier sneakiness. they pretty much trippled my upload/download speeds, but p2p doesnt seem to work at all, or at most 3k download, 10k upload, with normally i get like 60k up, 100k down, from other means of transfering.

No problems here running them both. Just making the right adjustments to my speed settings. Once I get it set right, pretty stable.

neo mule is my new favorite. has all the features you'd ever want and then some, still it's low cpu and high transfare rates. PERFECT!

hmm, sinned?? Haven't we all sinned over time? I use eMule (pretty new to it myself actually) while I am floating round on Usenet for new releases. Downloadspeeds are ok in the mule (avarage of 90kb/s) so I dont complain and I can wait for those hard to find horror classics. I have my pipe open 24/7 and when I do get some from the donkey it is fine, if not, I will wait a little longer. But as I said the new stuff I leech from Usenet on high speeds (around 700 kb/s :P )

UseNet/BT and all are great and I dabble in them.

But what will always make eMule number 1 for me is the COMMUNITY.

I really love having an application that gives you such control over sharing/releasing and being able to see who's downloading from who and friendslotting, or chatting with people you see queued for files and finding new stuff out!

So yes BT/USENET are all fast and alot better then the mule but it's a lonely download really ;-)

With eMule you're always with friends, especially if you're on HHAH as well!
