TCPA stands for Trusted Computing Platform Alliance. For the technology we will speak from TCP (The trusted computing platform). This plans that every computer will have a TPM (Trusted Platform Module), also known as Fritz-Chip, built-in. At later development stages, these functions will be directly included into CPUs, graphiccards, harddisks, soundcards, bios and so on. This will secure that the computer is in a TCPA-conform state and that he checks that it's always in this state. This means: On the first level comes the hardware, on the second comes TCPA and then comes the user. The complete communication works with a 2048 bit strong encryption, so it's also secure enough to make it impossible to decrypt this in realtime for a longer time. This secures that the TCPA can prevent any unwanted software and hardware. The long term result will be that it will be impossible to use hardware and software that's not approved by the TCPA.

But did ya do a poll of how many people visit forum/Main page and both?

What were the stats like?

I'm a hardcore AKA forum user only I'm afraid. Get all I need from it and also the community aspect also.

However quite a few IRC joiners are from main page only

Hits are higher on frontpage, bandwidth is higher on the forums :lol:

hhhhmmm, was a close call between forums/main page.

Although forum only visitors wouldn't be able to vote as poll was on main page :lol:

They both go hand in hand though and make a great dead-donkey.com website

I believe i announced it in the forums, I can remember someone asking how many people went to the fp and how many went to the forums

So it was fair win for the forums over fp, and a big step for both :lol:

As Linux user I am not that afraid of TCPA. I doubt that really every single piece on the market will have TCPA in-build ever. There are enough other industry branches which won't accept TCPA, because it hinders them or is costly without benefit. So there probably will be professional hardware without it. This hardware might be e bit more expensive than the junk you grandmother buys at the local discounter, but who cares? The normal idiot user who just knows on what button he has to click to start a download will be effectively hindered. And this might be good enough for the content mafia. Ah yes, and of course all the windoze users will have a problem. They probably won't be able to use TCPA-free hardware. So learn Linux early :-P
