Looks to me like somebody is just having fun while trying to get a buzz over their auction.. maybe raise the prize a little. Seems to work though, bid is at 122 $ !

yeah, people make up these complicated stories to raise the prize, and it works too most of the time :-) People like to be entertained and they like to feel like the item they're buying have some kind of histrory to it.

this'll probably happen a lot more after the bloke selling the wedding dress achieved minor celebrity status

yeah :-) I have to say I digged that guy though. Cool story, cool answers to the emails (of which we can't be sure were real or not), it made the item seem extremely attractive and people jumped to get a bid in!

yeah, i enjoy a good story :)
And it must make it easier to buy something when there's some history behind it, although I have to confess - I can count the amount of times I've bought something on online auctions on one hand
But I use other sources more frequently. Dvd Shops and book shops.. Especially book shops. can't have enough of books..
