Fuck firefox, wouldn't work nicely when I had it.

I like IE, currently using MyIE2, have used Opera but it weren't too clever either mate.

I have never had issues with spyware and shit either, maybe I am just too clever for em?

Thats the most retarded thing I've heard in a long time  Compared to IE?

Opera is the best built browser i've used thus far, its features are killer :) F12 blocker management, sidebar and placement of html webframes anywhere, intelligent search buttons and infinite placement, *safe* password management, fully customisable GUI, TABBED BROWSING, etc.

IE: unsafe javascript so you can visit dodgy sites (seriously, the only thing it has is compatability with craply built sites, and I'd hardly call that a great bonus :o )

Firefox doesn't offer quite as much, but I think its point is to be simple and to the point. Not quite sure what some people's obsession with it is either, but I'd take firefox, despite its current buggy build over any IEglitchcrapmod  But as it stands I still think opera is the best by far :)

ps. Don't you think its a bit daft announcing ever popup/exploit and bug for IE? Its obvious there's a bottomless keg of them for such a patently unstable piece of software... its like announcing birth's across every council estate in the uk

Tools>Preferences>Default Application>Check if opera is default...

What are the other *decent* browsers out there btw?

Everyone goes on about opera and mozilla as the decent ones. There must be more good ones out there. Sure I doubt that they will effect me using opera but I mean they must be worth something, else they wouldn't exist.

by going to tools, by going to preferences, by going to default application, then checking the box next to "Check if opera is default...".

if that ain't there then, well i don't know what... your using opera right? I don't think its any different between versions, preferences has always been under Tools no matter if your using the latest version or not I think.

Yes, that's exactly what he means.

Or if you're using some older version, I think Preferences was found in File menu.

Use 7.50 though, it's much cooler.

my bad, I thought you knew. Yes you have to always be in the program you want to set as default to set it as default. Ie is somewhere ghastly in its options, tools>internet options I think. Mozilla's is god only knows, but there's a button to check. With opera you check that box.

If your using a none modified xp, you can also do it by right clicking on the start menu, and then navigating through there to get it to replace the IE button and set it to the start default too.

only the 7-series of Opera kicks the other browsers' asses  so hopoe you don't have older than that!

for Firefox (and prob other versions of mozilla) Tools - Options and on teh general tab is an option for default browser and as Firefox works a treat for me see no point to even try Opera atm (esp as was compolete bollox browser when i last tried - i know has changed now for the better....)

:o

That's a bit of an odd stance, as far as you know it could be forged by the gods or the collective will of all the ring barers for Captain Planet.

Mozilla is great, but I wouldn't class it as a joy to use. I would with opera 7.50. Its one of those apps in my view :)

I'd recommend people to try all of them, 'works' or 'good', doesn't mean best... I'd hate people to miss out on that accord :(

I tried Mozilla once but very quickly switched back to Opera. I thought v 7.20 was the browser of my dreams, but 7.50 simply kicks ass! Fast, stable, functional, highly customizable... and a lot more. No use describing every advantage here, just try it and feel the difference. It just takes a few clicks to import the bookmarks and customize it. It can be safely uninstalled anytime you want to come back to IE - but believe me, you won't.

well i used Netscape from the 1st offering and in those days there was no competition really, it was only the last couple of versions of netscape that were total crap. IE always has been a piece of buggy insecure crap. i tried earlier versions of Opera but never got on with it at all. Have been using Firefox/bird/phoenix since it appeared and the latest version does all i want it to and is fast and stable as hell, dont really get on with the full mozilla package tho

ok, finally got around to updating and setting it to my default browser, but there's one problem: When I click the link provided in my 'notify email' in outlook, it opens 2 new opera windows! One is the hhah page, and one with the page I've set as startup page in opera.

suggestions?
