So, if I remember correctly, we have a few Swedish people in this forum, and as I am myself moving to Sweden next August and will stay there for a year, I was wondering about the legislation concerning p2p... 'Cause last time I was up there, like 3 years ago, I wasn't really preoccupied with that since I had no internet connexion from my room. But now I will, so I just would like to know if it is safe or not.
I mean, in France, as everywhere else, sharing files is still forbidden, and even if the government has been really lax those last months, it is now beginning to be tougher about it. There are more controls, and more repression. Of course, for the moment they are not persecuting the lonesome student who spends all his saving to pay for his internet connexion but still, it's becoming a sensitive subject.
So, how's the situation up in that wonderful country of yours guys ??!

Seems to be quite safe so far. Be sure to choose either BBB (Bredbandsbolaget) or Telia as ISP, as they don't give a damn about people using p2p.

And welcome btw, it's probably going to be a hot summer this year too.. Last year was horrible, 35c if i remember correctly..

Sweden's the same as Norway really :-)
Although certain "movie-companies" complain, nothing is ever done with p2p in Scandinvaia (I can't really be sure about Denmark though, haven't read much about the situation there, seems ok though)

ChildPorn of course is struck down upon very hard (at least in Norway). But you're not THAT sick, eh? :o

I'm just sick enough to go to live in Scandinavia for the 2nd year of my life ... I've already experienced terrible winter temperatures but I can't help it, I love Sweden ... I'm doomed. I may be doing some kinda rejection against my Sicilian family values :wacky:

lol heh
Don't get it though, isn't France as great as it can get? I'd LOVE to live in France a couple of years... Wish I'd chosen French in school so I could read all the great literature.. The only thing German has ever done for me is giving me the chance to read Goethe.

France is a great place for culture for sure. This year especially, as I live in Lille which is one of the 'Capitals of Culture' for 2004, so they are numerous free concerts (I saw the 5, 6, 7, 8's last week 8) ), exhibitions, and all weird stuffs brought by many foreign artists. A great time when you're a student.
But still, at the moment, I feel like I have to escape this country. Can't really tell you why ... maybe because it's turning into a totalitarian state, maybe because Bush is coming tomorrow, maybe because I cant' finish my stupid thesis :wacky:

Anyway, you can't imagine right now how happy I am to be leaving soon. What a pity I can't take Clyde in my luggage ...

Sweden is good, and just as here in norway, we have the best girls in the world. Nothing beats a nice summer day in one of Scandinavias big cities. Where in sweden are you staying?

The best girls in the world ?? Just wait till I get there

I'll be staying in Falun, which is clearly a small city, but never mind, I'll make my time enjoyable anyway. Actually, it's the only place in Sweden where I can do the Master Program I wanted, so at least I'll be studying what I really like. And I've planned to move around more than the last time : this time I really want to visit Sweden in deep 'cause last time I mainly went around Scandinavia.

Oh, BTW, I was in Norway and I have a question : where is everybody ??? I did hundreds of km without seeing any housing

don't worry, I like it too  The wonderful landscapes of Scandinavia are certainly one of my greatest pleasure when I go there. In France, one has to love cosiness to be living so close to one another :o

Well, I'll just post in here, so someone from North America can say they posted in this topic. Let's see, Canada has lots of open space, P2P is a civil case, so the courts will never force the ISPs, pot is legal (sort of), prostitution is legal, gay marriage is legal, and (though its obvious from all the other points) we're not the US. I think that's a quick list of all our strong points. Oh, and I live here. Can't forget that. David Cronenberg, too.

For the moment I have no plans of marrying a lesbian drug-addict fan of Cronenberg, but I assure if I ever am, I will come and visit you :wacky:

Seriously, Canada is place I'd love to visit. I have a few friends up there so I'll probably go some day. Be sure to tell David if I ever show up, 'cause I'm kinda curious to see if this guy's a real human being :o

I live in a small town called S?ter, 4 miles from Falun. Bring a warm winter coat, Falun is known to be very cold during the winter. A real freeze hole. Fantastic summers though with "Falu folkmusik festival". Falun is also one of the most beautiful cities here in Dalarna.
What is your master program?

I'll be studying English Literature. Can't wait to be there. I'll move by mid-August, hope that won't be too late for that music festival ;)
As you seem to know the town, here is another question : what about movie theatres in there? 'Cause when I was living in ?rebro, apart from FilmStaden, there was only a small -yet great- arty cinema. But unfortunately I understood that was pretty rare in Sweden. I'm so used to going to the cinema very often, I hope I'll be able to keep that rhythm :wacky:
