Further Details
Paramount Home Entertainment has just announced Friday the 13th: The Ultimate DVD Collection for release this October. The five-disc set features the entire collection of Paramount?s eight Friday the 13th films, two-per-disc, plus a fifth disc that is dedicated to many hours of behind-the-scenes material on the history and folklore associated with the classic horror series. Each of the films will receive anamorphic widescreen presentations and both English Dolby Digital and French Mono tracks. As for extras you can expect the set to include a cast commentary on Friday the 13th Part 3 by author Peter Bracke and actors Larry Zerner, Paul Kratka, Dana Kimmell and Richard Brooker, a commentary on Friday the 13th Part VI by director Tom McLouglin, a commentary on Friday the 13th Part VII by actor Kane Hodder and director John Carl Buechler and a commentary on Friday the 13th Part VIII by director Rob Hedden. Also included will be a Tales From the Cutting Room featurette in which exclusive deleted scenes and footage is revealed for the first time, an eight part featurette entitled The Friday The 13th Chronicles which looks at the legacy of the films throughout their history, a three-part featurette ?Secrets Galore Behind The Gore which looks at the work of master make-up effects designer Tom Savini in Part 1 and Part IV and John Carl Buechler in Part VII, a Crystal Lake Victims Tell All! featurette in which cast and crew from various films share amusing anecdotes and a Friday Artifacts and Collectibles featurette which looks at props and collectables from the films. Completing the package will be theatrical trailers from all eight movies except Part VI, which is represented by the teaser trailer.

Definitely Sweet and Sour News... Could have been better, but it could have been also way worse... If only Paramount licensed Anchor Bay to do this Box-Set...

Any Ideas about how Cut/Uncut the movies are...?

2per disc? Surely the quality isn't going to be too hot? That also means no extras or audio commentries on the disc either?

Sounds like a bad move... they are cheaping out again by the sounds of it

They're all "R" rated too, which I would imagine means cut to "R"ibbons

Correctamundo, although I hear the cut scenes will be added as extra features but the discs will NOT employ seamless branching to restore the footage to the movies. :(

How fucking pointless is that??!

yeah but you can still jab broken pencils in someones heel and make an excellent scene ala. Evil Dead, or stick it in someones eye.

This box set is just useless

how can paramount even stay afloat? Its sickening that they have such Big Brother, goody-goody and neo-conservative administration in a media group. At least with fox its obvious where they stand (and they are willing to be self relfective occasionally in their tv shows).

Paramount also condoned 1m6s of cuts to Temple of Doom in the uk which I'm still pissed about (see fh>maniacs). They could have them revoked in a 12c which is the equivalent of a PG13.

What a load of shit. I was seriously looking foward to seeing the F13 films in their uncut glory, great transfers, and lots of extras.

Instead, we get two per disc (why not just make them double sided?!), cut as hell, and a few commentaries. Ugh... just... ugh.   :(

2 per disk isn't that much of an issue, IF they're DVD9, I've got plenty of films on DVD5 (originals  )and the quality is fine, so 2 on DVD9 with no extras should be ok.

Being cut however certainly isnt

Damn, I had real high hopes for this one as well.
I only have these on vcd's and looked forward to seeing all these again. To movies on one disk gets fair enogh quality these days so thats fine with me, but why release cut versions? No point at all..

Paramount is the worst major studio producing DVDS!
They have this thing about unrated version's of films and they suck.
I had a feeling that this set was going to be crapy.
Not even are they including the commentary to the 1st film as presented on the r2 version.
I would have liked uncut versions damn it and not bring suckered into buying this shit.
Also it would have been nice if they included the 3-d version of part 3.

:matrix: :o
