In a fantastically stupid move, the BPI has also started to sue its own customers : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainmen ... 722428.stm

I'm sure this will make them as popular as the RIAA in the states

It also marks the day that I stop purchasing original CD's :)
I don't pirate music much TBH as I prefer having the packaging etc, but IMHO a message needs to be sent to these wankers that bullying your customers to try to make them do what you want will lose you those customers.

Nice to see the UK and the US fall to the very thing they fought World War II to prevent.
My grandfather would turn in his grave

yeah is all ova teh news 2day!! had complete nobs bein interviewed stating we killing musik (just like cassettes did eh!) by pirating, wot most ppl seem 2 overlook is teh fact that CD sales are on the up in the uk, against global trends!! they bang on about that reducing prices wont entice ppl 2 buy more cds (wot fukin planet they on!?) Infact since i used napster/audio galaxy etc i have actually bought more cds cos i found stuff i would neva have found out about otherwise. and i quite like 2 have a nice printed disc n all teh packaging rather than a gold disc when i like teh music.
is jus fat greedy corporate bastards tryin 2 grab more!! do they increase revenue 2 teh actual artists (teh ones THEY scam even more!), i think not.

We need a British version of this site to check a CD isn't on a BPI label before buying it

Thankfully most good music is independent so I can continue buying CD's with a clear conscience :)

Actually, the porn industry is the largest hit (or at least was for a very , very long time) by piracy, but it actually makes a HUGE profit out of this! You see, unlike the MPAA, and the RIAA, the pornographic industry embraced the internet as a next-gen form of ecommerce and its paid off big time. The RIAA just took their conservative nature, and fucked things up big style, which is why they believe they are in such a mess.

Its the own fault, I really wish it did hurt them... and not in the fictitious way they quote.

Porn pretty much drives any new entertainment delivery technology. That's why BETA died. Sony closed everyone out of the duplication and releasing end, so everyone went with VHS where you can get your porn fix. Before pictures and video on the net, it was just a few nerds on bulletin boards (hmmmm.....) playing online dungeons and dragons-type crap.
