MMMM i missed the new saxon !! hey btw maybe @spud maybe you can change the topic title to Bastards addicted to NWOBHM

I purchased this NWOBHM ecyclopedia 800 pages only dedicated to the most known and obscure NWOBHM bands. Which really triggered my interest in NWOBHM. So now im tryin to collect even more hahahhaa

The bands i listen to most at the moment are:

Quartz - Stand up and Fight
Angel Witch - Angel Witch (you guys should definately check them out INSANE !!)
Diamond Head - Lightning to the nations
Raven - Wiped out

And btw in my opnion the vinyl versions of my Maiden albums compared to the cd's sound much better

Up the irons !!

damn u guys have bigger collections it seems, I mean I have all their albums, a couple of vinyls, their dvds (my rock in rio has a different cover to yours for some reason d0c, tis a fold out one) and some of the singles.

Don't have enough cash normally to go out relic hunting... wish I did though :(

Dunno if i have a bigger collection  , just like the last year im collection vinyl like a maniac i have a total of 170 vinyls but only heavy metal bands IMHO not that many. I just started the Maiden vinyl collection hahahhaha. Point it that it's way cooler to have those albums all on vinyl with a huge cover instead of a very tiny one. I dunno but i like it more.

Btw does anyone know the band Virtue. they made one 7 incher in 1985 which was called we stand to fight. If anyone wants to get rid of it im interested :)

yes i know there is another version of the rock in rio, mine is the excat the same but it have normal plastic dvd cover, most of the maiden stuff you see i have on vinyl is bougth over the years, i started in 1985.... so its pretty cool to have vinyls that i bougth when they was new, i can still remember the crazyness in the record shop when powersalve was just released :)

This year in Rock the Nations fest in Istanbul, Paul Di Anno was headliner and Blaze was one of the front groups :) It was a great experience to see the legend alive, he and Blaze even did some duets...

...and yes, Iron Maiden is one of my favorite groups and my brother is a IM collector.

Iron Maiden are kool. My fave song is Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter. Nicko the drummer is the best :) he's funny. Rock in Rio was a mad DVD, the crowds blew me away. Amazing.

Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter is like one of their only number ones. It starts off dead silly, but the rest is freaking uber cool :)

@Rock in Rio DVD, I don't think Steve Harris should edit the stuff, he's a basist not an editor, and the cuts between shots show where his talents lie. Far too fast for you to focus on an image which makes it annoying to watch :(

Bleedin good concert though :)

I think, and this gents is my humble opinion, that bring your daughter to the slaughter is one of their worst compositions ever. In fact i think even the later work with Blaze Bayley is way better  But that's just my opinion. Eventhough i like all the albums they made very much, i tend to lean to the older material. For example Somewhere in time, and Seventh son of a Seventh Son are true masterpieces !! everyone is always ravin about their other albums but for me these two are pieces of art which are almost like a bible to me :beerchug:

@ spud: i read in an interview in Aarschok maybe you know this dutch zine?? anway i read that Steve first gave the editing out of hands. But when he returned from a vacation and he saw the results he was totally amazed by it's lacking :) So he decided to do it all himself, and believe me maybe this was not so bad choice cause i cant remember any dvd/vhs concert registration which looks as good as this one !! and i have seen plenty.

lol I always though bring your daughter was their cheesest by far for ages, but its just the begining that's bad. The rest of it really isn't too bad, and is very cool... I really don't mind it any more.

I think its actaully their only UK number 1 or something stupid, which is totally insane seen as though its nowhere near their best.

I heard completely the opposite, that steve is to blame for pretty much all the lame editing, since he tried to do too much. Seems to fit the profile if you ask me  Its cut way to quickly and the whole thing suffers because of it I thought, its a great concert, would kill for a less frantic/headache inducing edit.

Angel witch is a NWOBHM band which originates from around 1979 or something like that. They were quite big at the time even did some gigs with maiden if i remember right. But they unfortunately were plagued with too many line up changes resulting in many many split ups. Which eventually led to more resurrections  but IMHO they never reached their insane high level of songwriting and craftmanship as on the first album simply called Angel Witch - Angel Witch.

You really should check this album out. Probably there is floating a copy of their album on DC.

As for Diamond Head.

Image

I can't believe you haven't heard from them. Escpecially Metallica abused like all of their songs of their Lightning to Nations album which originally didn't have a name because it had no print on the cover because they self financed it :beerchug: DIY rulez hahaha.
These guys wrote the incredible songs Am I evil and the anthem Helpless !! does this ring a bell???

Metallica actually did more covers of them : The prince, Sucking my love etc. but only Am i evil and Helpless were released. The other songs i have on a bootleg rehearsal somewhere :)

So go grab yourself a copy of this one also !!

as for quartz just plain and simple NWOBHM but i thoroughly enjoy them

Only thing i know about Virtue is that they did one 7" and then dissapeared into obscurity. I have the songs in mp3 format but am searchin for an original copy which i will not find anyway hahahahha
I haven't listened Tank yet i will....................................

Saxon is not one of my fav's especially their party songs i Hate.
If the new album is like their song Crusader then i mght give it a try

the old lineup is the best, adrian smith and dave murray, janick gers guitar work does nothin for me tbh, and watching him playing over some of adrian smiths solos in rock in rio really sucks.
