OT: Sex Lives of the Potato Men!

After sitting through 'Excorcist: The Beginning' and 'AvP' and being EXTREMELY displeased by both offerings - in total desperation my wife and I finally decided to watch 'The Sex Lives of the Potato Men' (I d/loaded it ages ago and couldn't bring myself to watch it after the reviews I'd read at iMDb).

Well, waiting so long was a big mistake. Neither of us have laughed so much in ages. OK so you have to leave your brain in the gutter before it starts, but geez it was funny.

The biggest shame was I anticipated Shaun of the Dead to be brilliant, yet felt sorta let down by that. This film I expected to be awful, but turned out to be hilarious.

Seems the National Lottery who funded it weren't overly impressed, but hey IMO best money spent in ages.

Toilet humour that makes Bottom look like Mary Poppins - great!!!

I remember reading that is simply wasn't funny at all in every single review I read (all magazines, newspapers and internet)

Script was supposed to be terrible, comedy was supposed to be naff, and the only critical comment in its favour was "not even johnny vegas can save this movie" or something to that degree.

I doubt that it has anywhere near the caliber of comedy as Bottom, but I'll have a look.

Yep read exactly the same as you Spud. BAAAD everywhere! But imagine the sort of people reviewing this film. However if a movie makes me laugh so much that tears roll down my face, then it's got something going for it - think a 3-some scene and you'll understand if you see it :lol:

Maybe everyone will hate it except me. I dunno, just tickled me and I'm certainly no 'LAD', nor my wife a 'LADETTE', in fact I'm a professional with kids. Absolutely no subtlety at ALL, in your face completely, the lowest of the low. As I said great!!

one of the funniest movies i've ever seen in my life , i absolutely love it , and have reccomended to everyone i know , even though it isnt available here in the states as far as i know . laugh out loud funny .

if you dont laugh , you really are wound too tight (religious conservative) or dead :lol:

The threesome scene is this was very funny

Not a bad little film to be honest, FAR better than the reviews would have you believe.

When it's funny, it's VERY funny.

Yes exactly, when it's funny it IS funny, when it's not you'll find yourself cringing. Still great though, as I keep finding myself saying :lol:

Thumbs up from me too. Didn't expect much from the reviews, but me and Mrs B were rolling with laughter when watching it.

I can't look at a jar of strawberry jam in the same way now! :lol:
