I always thought we could use more movies where people run down the sides of buildings.

Jackie Chan does that in a couple of films.

I don't mind so much, seeing as how he's highly talented at martial arts and is not just there to look 'extreme'.

LOL you guys actually pay to see films? Just kidding, I never go to the cinema, never did before I downloaded the shit either.

I do reward what I consider a decent film tho by buying it on DVD, my way of rewarding actors/studios.

Actors don't get shit from DVD sales, neither do directors, development studios, etc.

They've already been payed so most likely won't give a flying f*ck if you buy them or not (although higher sales = good for reputation). The main people, like in the video game industry, that profit aren't the people who make the stuff, its those that have the vast wealth to distribute it.

The only people that profit from movie sales (except in the rare occasion when actors/directors negotiate to get a percentage of the profits instead of full cash payment) are the studios, and most of the time, they are playing it safe (hence the decline in quality of many big budget movies and the numerous sequels things get).

A far better method would be to steal the DVD then send the actors/directors a cheque... that way at least they get the money ;)

Yes but, if sales of products directed by whoever and star whoever are high, it does, as you say, increas there reputation, which most likely will result in more work, which in turn creates more income for them, which in turn creates an opportunity for them to sell more DVD's, which in turn blah blah blah

Oh yeah, Satan sux.

That's what pisses me off about it all. We get screwed with shoddy end products on some classic films that deserve better, and when we buy it, the friggin movie doesn't go to the directors or actors, cast and crew that friggin well deserve it.

Thats what pisses me off about the gaming industry, some real talent go bust because quite simply, the publishers are big f*ck off corporations, and the development houses have to go to them to get distributed.

I don't know what the exact breakdown of fees was, but for consoles a couple of years ago, for a ?39.99 game, it was ?10 -> nintendo/sony/microsoft, ?15-20 -> publisher, ~?5 production costs (media, adverts, fees), ~?3 tax then a little bit goes to the developer, most of the time, the publish pays the developers a fee.... its completely rediculous. I can see why Valve has setup steam... at least they get all the money that way :)

I haven't seen jack about it yet, but as always we probably won't be getting shit for months or something rediculous.

They winge about piracy, what about releasing the f*cking movie everywhere at the same time?
