Before I sign up for this I'd like an opinion.
I'm currently on an old BT broadband contract that doesn't cap my d/l but it's only 512 :( thing is i'm reluctant to let it go as it's uncapped.
then today the wife is entering a comp on the BBC website and I spot an ad for these people
http://www.ukonline.net/comparison/?doc=comparisontable
So I ring them and the bloke says I need to ring BT and get my MAC Code ? but not to tell BT I'm leaving but that I want it for my records otherwise they wont tell me ? Then I have to ring them back and let them have it before ringing back to tell them i'm off ?
Does this sound dodgy or is it legit ?

LOL thats what you get for using BT. Seriously tho, why would they not tell you?

Tell em you will burn there head office if they refuse to divulge the requested information.

Seriously tho, why shouldn't they tell you?

No sounds fine to me, I did the same thing last year when I moved to Pipex from BT.

They will give you the number and you do not have to tell them why you want it.

What do you mean by 'capped download'? Some policy where you only can download a certain amount of data per month?

Indeed D. Unfortunately it seems to be becoming more common over here now.

i think you'll find your BT dsl WILL infact become capped regardless....they emailed all users about it sometime before xmas and IIRC they will be implementing a 30gig cap per month for 512k lines and a 40gig cap for any higher lines (1,2mb) in the coming months...which is why i left them about a month ago and joined Eclipse broadband with a 1mb flex line capable of going to 2mb at a cost of a few pence per hour...mind you my line can only handle 1mb so i cannot get the 2mb but hey 1mb uncapped is better than anything with BT

Ah thanks. Here in Holland they're not that common i think. At least my 1,6m connection isn't capped. :)
