Not mine, I hasten to add, but i'm sure mine's on the way (or will be soon).

Anyone here got one?

Pretty fucking pissed off about that, I've just bought 2x300Gb SATA drives and another 200 blank DVDs and NTL go and do this :(

Looks like it's finally time to ditch the hopeless cretins.

I'm glad they don't do this in Norway. It's ridiculous to think that people don't use more than 30GB a month. That's maybe 3-7 days for us "normal" users. :D

Cable sucks donkey balls, thats a consistant and favourable quote i have. Okay occaisonal it can be faster and all that, but it only seems to last for 6 months before they loose the edge.

1) Cable phone lines suck
2) Cable TV totally sucks (Sky Digital people!)
3) Cable connections have no end of problems in the uk
4) Cable companies are the scurge of the earth

I've never been a fan, the only thing that pisses me off is that cable tend to offer higher speeds first, but when you take the rest of it into account, I'd never sign up with them anyway.

Sucks ass they are capping again.

That sucks. I dropped BT when they introduced the caps and joined Eclipse (thanks Bassline) and I've been very happy with them :D

166GB in a month :o

Seems way too high to me, i've only got 100GB HD anyway.

I'm still on the 300k service, i didn't upgrade, and i don't intend to.

I d/l consistently at 28-30KB which is fast enough for me. I don't have a clue how much i d/l a month but the 300k gives a 1GB a day limit. I can't work out the maths but it probly puts me just over the limit, but when leechers are d/l that much they won't notice little old me :beerchug:

166b per month isn't that much, I probably do double that or more.

I've just bought 2x300Gb SATA drives to leep it all on

I think i'm gonna play ball a few months with ntl and hope its all hollow gestures.like last time, only shocking thing this time is the letter shown what I had d/led,knowing my luck they'll send me a bill for a ?1 per every gb I have gone over, and last month it was a good 100 more than the actual cap was set at :D

That's nothing like the letter they sent me a few months back. This one is specific and much more threatening and aggressive in tone.

I really hope they send me one, I'm in need of a good arguement

Luckily, I have my defence all lined up. Firstly, they haven't informed me of capping my service by letter, so informing me I've breached the cap is ridiculous.
Secondly, I have a recorded phone call with an NTL service advisor where they state clearly to me that NTL do NOT cap their users. This was recorded a couple of weeks ago :D

Doubt it'll do me any good, but I'll have fun trying!
Moving house in a couple of weeks anyway and was looking into changing isp. Fed up of NTL disconnecting my services for going over my ?100 credit limit...despite never actually going over it

consider yourselves lucky,Ive got 30 gig a month broadband connection(which is the maximum you get where I live) and if I go 1kb over that limit,I'm put on smallband duh

anyone phoned up the number to "discuss" the usage?

You might want to mention that there's no point in broadband if not for downloading, academic studies show about 90% of broadband users use the connection to download movies, games and music, and how neglegant it is to offer broadband and then not allow people to use broadband for what its primarly used for (ie. downloading movies and mp3s)

Dia(MK2) i'd be really glad if you could somehow seed that phone call,I guess without it being dated it would be hard to prove it was told to ya after the caps, but 3 hours after I got a letter (i also hadnt been warned about any changes via post, but with chatting online with fellow isp users) I went to my local NTL sales stand in my highstreet shopping arcade and they still are selling the packages as unlimited or at least from what the salesperson said.

theNomad, I'll see what I can do. I don't actually have recording at home, I used a service that records them for you when you make the call.
It should also be on record when the call was made as part of the service provided.

Thats the real thing I feel hard done by with (I'd be the 1st person to admit Ive had a good service for the 4+ years Ive been with 'em,apart from the stinking bad upload speed),but the fact theyre happy to keep selling the packages as unlimited or one a door 2 door salesman told me by saying well we have caps but only on paper to keep inline with other ISPs makes me sick and angry if weeks after buying the service your told by letter "well heres the catch we have this stupid 30gb per month cap, yeah thats true even when we have just increased your d/l by a good 1mb to 1.5mbs and are testing 10mb lines".

What i can't understand, if you had the 1MB service with a 3GB a month cap.

If you paid extra for the BB Plus service, streaming music and video, surely you'd go over the 3GB in a month :?

Yep, but I got the much more general "just keep it down" one. It never mentioned my specific usage level or any forthcoming packages or the like.
