I read somewhere recently that 'the powers that be' are either about to, or possibly already can, find individual users info via the likes of Razorback, (for example), and/or Emules in-built logging software.
Scuse my tech-terminology here! :oops:
The article said that what we dload is logged somewhere, (not just on our HDDs), and all 'they' have to do is be arsed to check out who has 'clicked' what, and when!!?? :?
Anyone know if this is true?
This also worries me a bit!...
Also, couldnt the suits simply check the likes of this forum, see who has posted 'thanks for that; click' and then force the site owner to hand over whatever info they hold about said 'clicker'? :(
I really hope Ive misunderstood the article, (cant remember where I read this; online I think), as Im very untech regarding dloads etc; I usually just click the link, set it to high priority/release in t'mule, and wait for it to finish! Hell, I dont even understand all these 'mods', etc! :oops:

Well, it is and it isn't your computer's IP address will identify you and pretty much EVERYTHING you do on the internet can be traced to you given time and resources.

Emule (and every other major P2P app) uses this IP address to know to send you the correct data.

Use an IPfilter with the (known) IP addresses of BAYtsp, RIAA/MPAA servers etc to block requests to and from the anti p2p companies and you decrease the chances of being caught.

It's a little like speeding, it's against the law but there aren't enough resources to catch everyone so therefore people carry on speeding.

Erm, I understand what you are saying(ish), but how do I go about setting the filters up?
I take it I have to dload the IPs of said 'suits' in order to block em? Where do I get the list from?
Im running Mule 46c at the mo, with zero mods.
Ive checked the 'Tools-IPFilter' section in t'mule, but Im not sure what to do with the window that pops up; I take it I have to 'append' using a dloaded list?
I run emule day n night and all of a sudden I feel as tho my (virtual) doors and windows have all been left open all the time!!! :o

Before I had a mule client that did it for me, I used to use Blocklist Manager and create my own IP lists.

Also, my BT client, Azureus, does this for me.

Potmunky, download this :

ed2k: IPfilter.rev41.ShadowCast.rar  [597.6 Kb] [Stats]

Put the ipfilter in your emule directory (or a location of choice), go to the security section of the setting in emule and point the ipfilter setting in emule to that file then click reload IP filter and it will block a whole load of IP addresses.

You still won't be 100% safe, but by it's very nature P2P is "unsafe"

PCA; Many thanks fer that! Now t'mule is all set-up n safe as, well, it can be, (ie not very!).
There is an NFO file in the zip to explain what to do, which is nice! :D
Just a thought, (and soz if this is on the site somewhere already :oops: ), but maybe there could be a thread stickied for us noobs who aint got a clue as to how to sort the basic setup of mule/donkey?
