Hi I'm new, I downloaded two movies and when I play 'em I get this pop-up that says "AVI Chunk Viewer - This AVI file was not prepared for sequential reading, the alternative "avi splitter" will now let the deault one handle it. The complete reinterleaving of this file is strongly recommended before burning it onto a slow media like cd-rom." What does this mean? What can I do to fix the problem?

Hmmm.....it could be several things but demuxing and remuxing audio often fixes it....
It will play fine as it is on your pc - will just take more cpu resources....dunno how much exactly.....won't play as is on a standalone though !!!

Topic renamed to something a little more descriptive.
Google's your friend though :

to reinterleave a file just open it in VirtualDub and resave the .avi file, but make sure you use the option "Direct Stream Copy" for both the audio and video. Also make sure that under audio interleaving is checked.

I was thinking of using VirtualDub before on a project, but I have no idea how to compile it? Besides the files won't run with windows media.
Is there a different program I could use?

I fixed the problem using VirtualDubMod, works on all players now and I don't get that "avi chunk viewer" message anymore. Thanks Arcade for giving me the right idea on what to search for. And thanks to everbody else for showing concern.
