Ok, I want to ask, is there any good reason to add people in your emule friends list nowdays?

I have read that old emule let the friends go in first places of download queue, but is that option working anymore?

I have added some HHAH and FIN people in my emule friends list and I hope they get my shared files faster than other emule users.

In the options somehwere you can probably select to give friends a boost. You can also assign a friend slot that gives them essentially a permanent connection to you, this can help spreading films as you can send shit to someone you know will upload.

Being honest, no.

The community boost feature is a no no in the official client and all those mods that are on the official fourm also have no friends or community boost.

Emule Plus, has a small community boost still but only for the first community string.

I personally use a non recognised mod and any person that I have on my friends list gets a x2 boost to their score and I also have the facility to set automatic friendslots, so as soon as someone on my list connects to me they can get a friendslot (that is turned off). I do not use a "kosher" mod.

It is nice to see who is downloading the same file as you etc etc and you can always give out friendslots.

Only question left is which version of emule do you use?

.46C is the official client and it has no form of friend boost at all, none of the mods on the official site do and I am loath to recommend any "non" officially sanctioned mods.

I am sure some of the people on here can do so though

I'm using 46c and if i see one of you d/l something off of me i right click and 'add to friends'.

Then i go into the message tab and the friends are listed on the left, i then right click on one and click 'establish friend slot' . It seemed to work for ^Rogue^ when he was d/l the gate off of me.

johnathome: I tested that 'establish friend slot' thing and it worked fine. He was in queue and download started right after I was established friend slot.

SadX, you might want to try MorphXt. Unlimited friendslots, and you can control each one's max speed (and the a global 'friends' rate).
SITE
I think its great, and recommend it.

Not wanting to sound like a leech but is there any way of pushing a given file so that your entire upload bandwidth is given over to that file? I use MorphXT V7.3 and it just spreads my entire bandwidth between anyone asking for any file.

Make sure powershare is disable by default in morph share and then only enable powershare for the file you want to spread in your shared files and also set it to release. If enough people request it and take up all your slots, then that will be all you upload. I usually keep most other files set to auto.

Thanks, I hadn't disabled powershare in morph share, let's see if that does the trick.

Now I just need a way of limiting the number of uploads. It kinda grates to see people getting stuff with 15 FS off me at the same or higher rate as stuff where I'm the only FS. Looks like even with powershare turned off by default it prefers to spread stuff I'm downloading. :matrix:

BTW where has A4AF gone in the latest MorphXT?

Its still there. About the powershare, in the 'Morph' tab under options, you can set each clients max speed as well as the max speed of powershare. I also recommend, in that tab, under Upload management, to enable dynamic upload USS.
