Does anyone know if it is possible to see rips with big resolution on this, and how?
Packard bell dvd divx 300-350

My sister has this, and the resolution was 960 x ???
This wouldn't play at all? Any tips on software I can install?

its because of the terriblely underpoered processor these cheap standalones have. WAF rips, for example, have questionable standalone support because of the resolution upsampling.

Its highly unlikely that a cheap player can handle that resolution.

This is a standalone your talking about? software?

Koff,
Is she getting the sound with no picture?

Not sure about her player but the max res for mine is 720 x 480,

anything above that, no pic only sound.

There's no software or firmware update i can install to make it play.

It's either down a different rip or re-encode.

Hey Spud, I have no idea about the software.
Johnathome: She probably has the same resolution as you. No, she can't get either sound or picture. It only says resolution not supported. :(
I thought maybe someone knew a kind of software to fix this, but it probably doesn't exist. Thanks anyway to the both of you. :beerchug:

Meaning, erm... software? watchu tlaking about, you can't install software on a standalone apart from an xbox... or were you talking about a firmware update? Firmware updates normally just add codec compatability, you'll have to consult the official manufacturer's homepage for a firmware, but its unlilkely to fix basic hardware flaws (its normally the chipset that can't handle > 720).

Yes, this is a standalone.
I don't know much about divx-players, so I just took a chance that it was something I could download to get this working. :wacky:
