Depends what you're doing, if you're mass grabbing Binaries, then Grabit is the best (and it's free) Newsbin if you want to filter / read postings and grab occasional files.

I prefered "Gravity" before but development stopped due to piracy :wink:
Using Mozilla Thunderbird for mail/news now, might not be the killer app for usenet but it's good enough.

Btw, i really dislike Forte Agent. Lots of people like it but i found the gui to be horrible.. It's simply to ugly to be used :-)

I use NewsPro myself, great app for both bunnies and txt. Unfortunately not in *free unlimited* use available. This is the first program I had to buy and was worth every penny.

I always used <a href=http://bnr2.org/>Binary News Reaper</a>. It's not the prettiest, but it works well and can download and reconstruct posts from multiple servers :)
