I'm trying to rip The Strangler of Vienna for the VN2 collection, but when ripping to my HD I only get to 69%.

Any ideas?

I've had that before, I had to use another DVD drive I think, or it might have had dirt on the bottom.

The DVD is new, and is in perfect condition. It plays fine on the PC, but only the menu will work on the standalone. Trying to play the film results in the disc being ejected, it's the same with the other DVDs released by the same company (Siren).

I tried SmartRipper and it seems to have done the job OK. :D

I'll encode it tonight.

Another problem, the sound encoding is being skipped. This is what the log says:

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : D:\DVD Rips\tsov AC3 T01 2_0ch 224Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3
[00:00:00:000] | Output: D:\DVD Rips\tsov AC3 T01 2_0ch 224Kbps DELAY 0ms.mp3
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: Yes
[00:00:00:000] | PostGain normalize to : 0.97
Error 47: Error with LAME dll!
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !

Any ideas.... :?

Yes, both are in program files/gordianKnot, I certainly haven't moved anything. I've swapped the LAME.dll for a newer one, but the problem persists. The AC3 file plays fine in BSPlayer, so no problems there.

I could encode it with the AC3, but that would be wasteful and I'd much rather keep the video bitrate high.

update to newest version?

Have you tried NOT using DVDdycrypter? I know other do not like this app but try DVDshrink. If you do not want to use DVDshrink to build the dvd-r then set it to no compression (direct stream) it will rip and remove the protections as well as the regions.. then dvd2avi as your normal method.

I would try a reinstall or to use something else, but I've still got the installation problem I also posted here about. It'll be next weekend by the time I get round to having another go anyway...

You could encode to wav and convert the wav to mp3
