I am trying to make a birthday present for a mate of m,ine of all the Lone Wolf and Cub movies on DVD. Yea I know there will be quality loss and all that junk but he isn't computer savvy and will NEVER watch them if they are in avi.

Anyway. I have had no problem in the past in making real nice DVD's from avi files. But I can not figure out how to make a subtitle stream for the DVD out of one of the SRT files I have for the LW&C movies.

So I am looking into a 2nd option that of taking the avi's I have and burning on the subtitles.

Dose anyone know how to do this?

Preferably I would like to increase the hight of the file and add a extra bit of blackness to the bottom of the avi so when I burn the subtitles on it they will not cover the action. This is no problem but I do not know how to "burn" the subtitles onto a avi

Any ideas?

Open the movie in Virtualdub.
Add subtitle filter and open your sub file.
Frameserve to TMPGEnc.

(note: that guide continues to produce a VCD/SVCD, but if you know how to use TMPGEnc to make a DVD stream, you'll be OK)
