I have the horrid emzed capture card that caps in mpg2 and does ok with broadcast and laserdisc caps but when dealling with Vhs tapes the problem starts.
No matter what tape it is Pre-recorded to home recorded I get this annoying discolored purplelish bar on the top portion of the picture.
I had thought that it was a cause of the old pre-macrovision copygaurd and wasted money on a highly recomended remover box that did chit.
I only have one Vcr and am wondering it it could be a problem steming from that, but when the tape is viewed on the televission everything is just fine.
Looking all over the net for answers but found null.

Does anyone know a solution to this other then buying another card, to which i can't afford Atm.

I have so much stuff i want to get ripped!!! :matrix:

Ok....first of all...this is not uncommon so don't trip....just how much of the picture gets taken is the second question...you say it is on the top portion of the screen so usually with me..it isn't a matter of discoloration it is just a sort of flubby line.I htink this has to do with capturing at a res that is greater than the actual film you are recording.I need ot know what vid card you are using as well...alos you might try the settings in your card...saturation is a biggy, if it is to low..you get b&W to high and it looks like paint by numbers. So a few answers andn then I can try and help you..also are you using firewire,PCI, or AGP to to all this...it all must be taken into consideration. So I wil wait for your feedback before I go any further with this. :beerchug:

Hey Dxa ..

It's a Emuzed Maui PCI PVR and it's PCI.
It caputures any non Vhs source fine without distortion but with Vhs tapes this annoying discolored purple bar is postioned at the top of the image.
It's kinda large and very distractting. It's the size of like 1 widescreen image bar.
I never thought of what you said

maybe that could be this situation?

but it does display this image problem before i start recording.

Yeah...I don't think it is a res problem...if it fills half your screen then it could be interference from your vcr cable?try swapping out for a gold cable(Best image quality for composite)If that is not the answer you may try looking for a different cap driver(If allowed...I know Pnnacle MAKES you use there cap driver).....this is not a problem i have encountered so you may want to look thoroughly through Emuzed FAQ or forum section.Does your vcr tape play fine via striaght TV?I am thinking you probably checked this already but thought i would ask to be sure....but there is a definate inteference problem between your vcr and your pci card....this is not a macrovision issue(If it was, your screen would fade in and out with all sort of funky colors throughout the entire screen cap.)Possibly it may be an IRQ issue in which case I might try swapping slots and see what happens. These are just a few suggestions...I know how aggravating this kind of thing can be,beleive me..been there, just different problems....Emuzed is not a product I am entirely familiar with...I will look up some stuff myself and see if I can't find a quick workaround for you..until then try some of these steps and then go from there...I will get back to you on what i find out myself

Thanks DXA.. this is a serrious problem with me because I have so many Vhs tapes I want to convert to DvD and this Emuzed card is a peice of shit IMO that came with my system.
I can't find any people on the net with simular problems and it sucks with finding clues to the situation :matrix:

shit....so it came stock then? You know I used to cap via my old TI gold 4600 nvidia till I finally ogt so fed up that I ended up splurging the miney to grab the pinnacle.....in th elong run you might have to do soemthing like this yourself if you can't figure ut the interference issue..but it definately sounds like line interference with you card.....that or just your card itself is knackered..in which case I would check waranties and such.Say in contact with me on this as I am really interested in your progress about all this man...sorry this is happening....it really can be depressing to have all your goods on vhs and not to a damned thing with them because of soem faulty issue.
You take care and keep you chin up....I have faith,we can get this worked out somehow. :beerchug:
