Holy s***, lol. Thanks matey!

As there are so many could they have been packed with trojans, etc? I'm always wary about installing random, un-reccomended software.

I may give neo a go though :)

I tried may mods before finding Stullemule - the one that worked for me :)

The best advice I can give is to try a number of mods and see which gives you the best results, everyone here has an opinion as to which is best.

My vote goes to StulleMule, I know spud and many others use MorphXP with great success, but it didn't work for me at all :(

I liked Neo but had stopped using it cos it hadn't been updated in months, I see there is a new version out but I haven't compared it with MorphXT yet.

Thanks all yet again.

About 24 hours and still got 26 u/l and 6 d/l as average on MorphXT. This can't be right...

I'm just in the process of trying one or two (or five?!?) different mods... I'll get back to you in a while.

Cheers

Neo is optimised for fast downloads IIRC so you may wish to give this a go.

No need to worry folks... I'm still here :P (thought you wish I wasn't!)...

Been downloading for at least 24 hours-ish now and still not getting any single download going over 10, although the total download speed has peaked at around 40kb/s (about 30 d/loads on the go) - it's still not right. The maximum d/load speed of any file still averages out at 4kb/s, occasionally peaking to 8 for a few seconds then back down to 4.

Still got the TCP test failing even though I tried a variety of ports - maybe that could be giving me the equivalent of a low ID (even though I'm on a high ID on Razorback 2.0)?

Cheers George, I'll give Neo a go next..

Hi guys, just got back after a week or so away. What I have found is that my d/loads speeded up quite amazingly at some times in the last week or so.

I changed to neo and did get the occasional 16 - 25kb/s d/load. I'm currently back to slow ones as we speak, so I guess it's just luck of the draw/timing.

Just thought I'd nip on to say thanks to all for your help up to now and I think I'll stick with neo to see how this goes for a while!

Cheers :beerchug:

Have you tried some popular files? Like Cerberus -Guardian from Hell- for instance:

You're not going to like this :

Quote:
Tiscali

Blatantly advertising "New Unlimited Packages" across all media. However careful inspection reveals that a FUP is in place. In view of Tiscali's past history users have been throttled to poor speeds when they have used amounts between 15-30GB. It would appear from the FUP that users are encouraged to schedule downloads to off peak periods to avoid throttling.

Update Dec 05 The only guideance I can seem to find from Tiscali is

"Usage during peak times is limited and measured over a 10 day period. While I cannot offer exact figures, I would strongly advise that you do not use P2P etc during peak times for large file downloads."

Users that have been caught out by the "unlimited" advertising have found themselves on speeds worse than dial up. Other reports are that Tiscali are blocking all ports except for port 80 (surfing).

Its not the first time that tiscali have done something similar.
ADSLguide News Archive

Change your TCP and UDP ports to 81 and 82 and try that. Ports 80,81 and 82 (Http proxies) are "unblocked" (apparently) with Tiscali

Googling tiscali and p2p is quite enlightening :

But the only advice I can guarantee will be useful is : Ditch Tiscali, they're terrible

Cheers PCA (and Pure),

I was aware of the FUP, but as they were limiting it in peak hours anyway I just kept emule connected 24hrs! This did result in connection problems if I attemted to even check my email (I couldn't even find my homepage!!! - hence the 'less than dial up' connection that you mentioned)...

I emailed Tiscali and asked them if they were limiting my OFF-peak speeds (as it was against their own t&c if they were) and told them the problems I had been having for a week or so and of course I received a reply stating that they weren't limiting me... BUT coincidently enough my connection speed suddenly sped up about a day prior to their reply!

I looked into Tiscali blocking selected ports and they are apparently blocking the most common ones used for P2P (as I mentioned, the message on here was my last port of call - excuse the pun! )

I do have a connection, although a slowish one. I may try the change of ports though... ta for that suggestion!

Unfortunately I've only just joined Tiscali (about last November) after being on sorry dial-up for a few years (and not with tiscali) - obviously it's a one year contract, which I can pay up if I wish... but I may as well see it through to the end (or close to it!)
