I am sharing. I will convert and add to what is there Yes I used a guide from http://www.rita.lt. They suggested this:
IMPORTANT:
What you are generally looking for is to adjust the Width x Height to values which will make the Bits/(Pixel*Frame) value approx. 0.2 for 1CD and 0.27 for 2CDs.

0.2 is too high I'd say, but for a one cd it is 0.18 as a very rough guide, and remember bits/pixel isn't a science: its very inaccurate a lot of the time. However, if your new to ripping it helps you get used to the ins and outs of what your trying to achieve; ripping is a compromise between the best quality you can get for a filesize (700mb / 1400mb). Should only put out undersized rips when your bitrate is 1500kb/s, you have a very high bpp and your resolution is the maximum it will go without enlarging the source. :)

You should dump that site and upgrade your thinking to:
http://www.doom9.org
until you get going, once you got the method right, then you can look at better methods, matrices, filters and tweaks.

gknot is friend :)

If I increase from 608x464 B/P 0.190 to 640x480 B/P is 0.172, high zoom goes into the red.

You should be able to select 672x480 if you have the AR set correctly (NTSC 4:3)

I don't understand that, NTSC DVD resolution is 720*480 so 480 should = 100%

Then 608x448 is as good as you're going to get, what filesize did that rip give you?

Is that the size on disk or the actual filesize?

That's MUCH better though :)
