I've never been a BT customer either and I've had credit prblems in the past, so god only know's what they'd want to charge me !

yeah like tell me bout it!!! no idea if is still true now as was just over a decade ago(so the situation may very well have changed by now), never had any credit problems either so was pretty shocked at the time.
i was like so totally disgusted with the situation i went and got myself a mercury 121 mobile that very day so i had a phone and waited till the nynex install for net access. those were the days, real piss poor speeds with dialup no divx or mp3s, whatever did we use the net for eh?

in my case Mame roms and (believe it or not) .iso downloads, those were the days, Vampire the masquerade took me 10 (constant) days to download
