to be honest I very much doubt that any PC DVD will have problems with either - or +, but + is supposedly more compatible for DVD video players / recorders (in fact it makes a huge difference for DVD video recorders and is the only real choice in terms of usability!)

Well cheers for the info. At the mo I've been using -R discs for dvd's. done loads of copies of Finding Nemo for people!

But for relaibility think I'll buy to spindles.

1. +R for the occasional dvdr that i rip for peeps
2. -R for all my other needs.

Some discs didn't work on peoples dvd machines so thoght they couldn't read dvdr's, but maybe it was a +/- problem

Thanks PC_Arcade

that's really wierd, too. I've got loads of copies to do and haven't watched it myself either

Checked the dvd - Amazing quality and sound.
And only out at cinema this week!

Although the dvd says it's a 2 disc special edition with TONNES of extras so will probably buy the retail when it comes out, as the dvdr seems to be the workprint dvd with only the movie and menu.

You click the extra features but nothing happens!

The only difference is mine's converted from the .avi (hence all the posting in the forum yesterday) If the films good enough I might just buy it though - I like Pixar movies :)

Well let us know how the conversion goes?

If i can free up some space, I'm gonna attempt the Good, the Bad & the Ugly Extended Edition avi, and put that onto DVD for myself and a mate!

It's 2 cds so if it works out I'll probably be able to convert any avi to dvd. You going for the DJ Benz approach with SVCD2DVD??

I did it yesterday with SVCD2DVD and CCE, it was quick (about 1 hour) easy and the quality was the same as the avi (or at least I couldn't see the difference, the hardest part was finding the software to burn the .mpg to a dvd-video (used Nero 6 in the end)

Finding Nemo is not so funny like other Pixar's movies.
imo.
but i'd like to say - i am tired of pair "stupid/funny - serious" heroes.
it is from mainstream cinema where r many action movies have pair

black clown (who just constantly talk (bla bla bla) whole movie) - white non clown

just not so long ago saw "Resquers" - great animation movie without any stupid clown heroes.

Yeah, they're kinda tedious, but don't expect them to go away anytime soon, they've been around since Laurel + Hardy

PrayeR's back to making no sense again

You still enjoyed finding nemo right?

Just not the buddy aspect, of there always being 2 friends on an adventure, but wasn't the rescuers about 2 mice heroes out to rescue somebody??

Sounds just like what you're raving about?

Might hjave got it wrong. But I see what you mean, same story lines just different settings

Bloody hell, you don't watch disney for the STORY, they're all the same, loner / oucast leaves home/trib etc or gets kicked out, realises mistake/ fulfills mission / crisis happens has to fight to get home to vanquish enemy. I'm REALLY hard pushed to think of a modern disney animation that doesn't follow this pattern.

But if SVP don't charge postage they get the cheap crown at ?15.

3.99 for postage on two 25 spindles. So that's exactly the same price as your local shop.

Mind you, it's 3.99 if you only order one spindle too, so that would make them more expensive.

@PC_Arcade : Take a look at their site, they say which burners the discs have been tested on.

Yeah, not bad that a locl PC store is the cheapest I can find. There a good shop really. So will stick to getting discs from there.

Wonder if the price will drop as much as cdr's?

One day maybe!

DVD-Lab lets you add menus etc. Small download, and very powerful.

Finding nemo is a superb film, you guys are missing out if you haven't watched it yet!!

Ice Age & Lilo and Stich rocked.

I loved monsters Inc. though

But only for the animation (the end flying door scene in the factory!)

Without the fancy animation Monsters Inc is a lame idea!

And Finding Nemo loks even better. when I watch it PrayeR I'll tell you what I think of it

dvdlab will look into that. Would be good to do a menu for Good, bad,Ugly

Menu, scene selection, extras, multiple video streams. It's all do-able. For Multi's I generally make two menu's (one for each movie with a play button) with a forward back button to navigate between them.

You can also hide pr0n on the disc by making a hidden link to any object on a menu.

Right, well I'm learning here too

So +R is "more" compatible with video and -R is cheaper and "more" compatible with PC's.

Not really, i see why u said 'more' :). The +r media is, or rather was the format official backed by the DVD council, however, as it was crappy they now support both mediums  -r demand was 20% higher than that of +r in the first quarter of this year, it's cheaper and just as compatible (and better for console compatability). Granted +r media did play in a lot of really old (i'm talking original DVD players here), it failed in those just as many times as -r. In most modern players, well practically all, both formats work flawlessly anyway. +r doesn't work well in xbox and ps2, which is very important... cos who's dumb enough to own one of those and not have it chipped. I can confirm that +r doesn't always work, my friend has a few snapped discs to prove it  The cheap media means it's also better for data storage.

I'd say always back up games, data and what not to -r, and read up on the player you intend to use before bothering to buy any +r. There's just a big a chance that -r won't play as +r won't play, so why pay more? :) That's the way I look at it anyways.

I'll be buying a few more drives for some of the pcs in my house, i think i'll go for the pioneer :)

However, 8x +r writers are out, whilst only 4x -r is out, which is a big advantage atm. I still haven't found any information, news or anything really to show that +r is either winning or a better format.

There are a few sites to check out, but for a bit of news I normally visit http://www.dvdrecordable.org . Decent news and what not.

BTW
3.90euros?????

-r media about 60p to ?1.50, or more in shit shops
+r media is roughly ?1 to about ?2.50, or more in shit shops
