im using emule with the kad network only. ive got everything setup right for my emule settings, my router upnp settings, my pc's upnp / internet gateway settings. and by right, i mean the way that the guides tell me to set them up. my port test through the emule connections section gives me all green checks. ive been using emule + kad(only) ever since razorback went down and everything has worked fine until now.

i load up 3 ed2k links that i know should work. i get about 700 sources for each link. they all have full sources in the deep blue.

heres the symptons - my uploads will load for each request, it starts the transfer and then drops a few seconds later to 0 b/s and is then removed.

my downloads are stuck at about 3mb each, they start and stop at about 739 b/s or whatever and sometimes get up to 2 kb/s momentarily.

i re-setup everything from a clean slate and i still get the same results. does this sound familiar or is anybody else having a problem like this?

They appear on this list of bad ISPs:

looks like that's pissed up your chances of using emule.

Get NeoMule or the other mod that support encryption, they've been posted somewhere on this site you'll have to search :)

So everything was fine until the router? Or what has changed?

Same thing here. tried installing others mods and nothing. now i've tried Neo Emule v 4.11, changed default TCP and UDP ports and a little tweak in preferences (preferences>neo tweaks>support ISP transversal>need ISP transversal>Implicit) and it's been MAGIC!!
Download speed is still not as good as it was, but it's working.
Spud, thanks for the clue.

I'd recommend you kick up as much shit as possible @ your official isps homepage and any 3rd party isp guides.

just to follow-up on this a little further, i got neomule 4.11 and since i dont know what im doing, couldnt even get it to connect to kad. i would (preferences>neo tweaks>support ISP transversal>need ISP transversal>Implicit) but i dont even see many differences between emule and neomule aside from extra sharing utilities, much less being able to find the "neo tweaks" in the preferences.

either way, i re-read the toa contract and they point out that they will apply limits to bandwidth usage without notice, monitor the activity of the account, and that further excessive bandwidth usage will result in extra charges. so, it sounds like even if i get neomule to work, they are going to start charging extra. i dont know how much exactly, but i cant afford anything over $0. :(

I'm on it. and i'm going to kindly request emule developers to add an encryption option.

(of course language may change :) ) and don't forget to change default ports to something bigger than 1024 (preferences>connection)

I've switched to neomule, but atm i'm not happy about its upload. i might drop it for something else.

I do like the feedback and stuff, but i see people using StulleMule which also supports encryption don't seem to have it enabled. PCA for example says its "not supported". i don't know if that means he doesn't have the option enabled or that he doesn't need it.

I use StulleMule v3.5 and I can't find any settings for encryption. I only thought Sion and Neomule (both of which I've tried and didn't like too much) had encryption options.

I may try again with Neomule as my ISP (Pipex) is still capping ALL p2p at 20 KB/s max. Torrents are fine, ed2k is obviously pants until base emule comes with encryption as default (which seems unlikely).

I ditched neomule, its crap for upload which means i'm never going to use it.

make sure the ports open, if it doesn't connect its probably because it can't connect. if it can't connect your blocking the port.

Its something like 42635 UDP by default (i deserve a prize if that's the right one  )

I think the default were/are 4662 for TCP and 4663 for UDP, could be wrong though, since I don't think I ever used either

Or maybe it was 4662 or 4663 for both?

Those are the official ports, but not in neomule, when i just installed it 10minutes ago they were high port numbers. They are something like 42625 TCP and 42635 UDP. Which is probably why he isn't connecting to kad anymore, those ports need opening instead. Its under connections.

its not smart to leave them as default generally, since it lessens the chances they are going to get you with rudementary shaping and likewise it should increase your visibility to people who have ports 4662/4682 blocked.
