Hi folks,

I've got an NTSC disc where the movie has a PPIPI sequence. Any suggestions on how to make a good job of de-interlacing it?
I'm using Gordian Knot and don't have a great deal of avs knowledge, but can follow instructions.

Cheers

That's PPPII (3:2) though, OffColour has a problem with PPIPI.

I thought 3:2 pulldown was 3,2,3,2,3,2 etc...so for a telecined movie it would be PIIPP.

In this case (PPIPI) I would use IVTC on it first as it doesn't seem like it could possibly be 100% FILM.

I ended up using Telecide(guide=0).Decimate().

Seems to have a made a good enough job of it.

that sounds like you made the right option, just claw through the results and make sure there's no interlaced frames.

You can also use virtualdubmod and load a .avs to see if its done the right thing before encoding. If you go to Tools>Script Editor you can try out different combinations and see the results in realtime. :)
