I have the edimax Wireless Router AR-7024Wg model - info

And have had no problems with it what so ever, I run eMule and Azereus great with the port forward settings set up and get great speeds, so I want to now set up an apache web server, the eMule web Server and also use the Azereus Web GUI so I can get access to stuff when away from PC.

But can not get any of these to be accessed from OUTSIDE my LAN.

Inside my LAN I can click

10.0.0.2:80
10.0.0.2:4711
10.0.0.2:3881

and access Apache,eMule,Azereus no probs but if I try to access from the internet at work or at parents PC I get nothing!

So how does that work, if the router is forwarding the ports on emule/azereus OK, why isn't it for the web interfaces?

It is NOT a firewall issue or anything else as I have tested all areas.

Anyone got any suggestions?
Would love to be able to access my PC from work

You really should change your ips to:
192.168.1.x
Those are universal defaults (the 1 can change to 0 sometimes). that's an aside.

Anyway, for the web interfaces, go to your router... 10.0.0.1 by the looks of it. The obvious answer is your not forwarding inbound/outbound traffic for the web interfaces, even if you are for your emule and az clients. Since they are seperate ports, they need opening in NAT.

Go to NAT, then add TCP forwarding (both ways) to 10.0.0.2:80 (apache?), 10.0.0.2:4711 (emule?), and 10.0.0.2:3881 (az?).

I use port 82 for emule's web interface, and i open the port on my router exactly like i do a comms port (4662 is default).

Does it really make a difference, I kinda like 10.0.0.*

Will try that when I get home, hope it works.

I know there is a NAT & Advanced NAT Section in my router setup pages.

ALL windows machines and windows applications default to 192.168.x.x as well as most hardware, for example for ICS on windows ip must be 192.168.0.1. But no, doesn't make the slightest bit of difference, I just add devices to my network all the time and its easier to configure

Anyway, its definitely just a lack of open public ports / port forwarding :) I find changing the ports to web interfaces to 80, 81, 82, etc. sequence is easiest to manage and remember :)

 The reason I like it is coz everyone else has 192.*.*.*

But I think it's safe to stick to the de facto standard so will "try" and change network to 192.168.0.1

Thats a good idea about web interfaces, I'll change them to 81....etc
And then try the NAT thing on my router after that.

Will let you know

well if its not broke don't bother... just thought i'd mention, there's no real reason to change :)

Btw, whilst your fiddling with your router, if you've got your emule ports at default, i'd also recommend changing them in emule and on your router to higher ones :)

Well I have no idea what the NAT section of my Router is for really, but there are no port options at all :(

Quote:

The 'NAT Configuration' option enables you to set the configuration for the Network Address Translation (NAT) that provides dynamic Network Address Translation capability between LAN and multiple WAN connections, and the LAN traffic is routed to appropriate WAN connections based on the destination IP addresses and Route Table. This eliminates the need for the static NAT session configuration between multiple LAN clients and multiple WAN connections.

NAT , NAPT & DYNAMIC NAPT are available.

If Dynamic NAPT is chosen (the default setting), there is no need to configure the NAT Session and NAT Session Name Configuration.

Quote:
Image
The 'NAT Advanced Settings' option enables you to share a public IP address with specified LAN users. Click 'Session Name Configuration' to add the session name for WAN interface.

Session Name

Select the session from the configured NAT Session Name Configuration.

User's IP

Assign the IP address to map the corresponding NAT/NAPT sessions.

Action

Select 'Add or 'Delete'.

Number of NAT Configurations

The total number of NAT Sessions.

Available Sessions

Shows all the Session Names with its WAN Interface.

Number of Sessions:

Shows the total number of NAT Session Names entered.

I've been told that I need a router with 'Virtual Server' support to be able to get do this but whats the difference between forwarding a port 4662 on eMule (which I can do) and forwarding the port 4711 to the web interface (which I can't do!!!)
