I already experienced three times my eMule losing the files I was downloading. When I later used eMule search, the files that vanished were not highlighted in green or red. Just like they were never in my downloading list...

Did any of you have similar problems? What could be the reason?

Is there anything I can do to avoid such problems in the future?

yeah, don't let your machine crash. If its unstable, fix it.

Powercuts are unfortunate, but the only thing to prevent data loss is a UPS. You can get one for about £40 now that will keep you up for ten minutes and they usually have a usb connection so it will safely shut down your pc.

To recover the lost files, try MetMedic or DonkeyDoctor.

There's a backup option in emule, use it regularly to make sure you can simply copy across a .met file if you use a download. If you have a part.met for the corrupted download, replacing it with a non-corrupted one will fix it.

If that's why they've gone that is.
