last night I was woke up to my computer restarting itself, but I thought nothing of it and went back to sleep. When I woke up and opened emule it appears that it wont connect to kad. I know I can still download and search for things but I still find it wierd.
any sugestions why this could have happened.

also I used to use razorback 2 as my server a while ago and it is not in my server list now!

well when you say a while ago, you should make sure it was many months ago. RazorBack2 got closed by the police and the other razorbacks were fake/anti-p2p honeypots.

Not connecting to KAD can be temporary due to network congestion, your isp blocking, your firewall/router settings change, etc.

Best to order servers by number of users, add the best to your static list, and configure to only connect to static servers. Then connect to KAD and hit recheck firewall after 30mins or so.

yes it was many months ago when I last used razorback2. when you say the other razorbacks are fake its strange that you mention that because only yesterday i tried razorback3 as my server and since then my kad stopped working.

I have tried connecting to kad bit still no joy. I also have a low id which it always has done and have been on many forums to try and sort this out but nothing has ever worked. my firewalls are all off so I think it is to do with my router.

What is my static list? also thanks for the help, and I was wondering because of your avtar are you a magpies fan?

lowid = blocked access, so its almost certainly a router problem. Ensure your isp does not block/throttle ports, and that on your NAT access you've clearly defined your emule ports as open to your pc's internal address.

If possible, assign a static ip to your pc's mac address (go to command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" without quotation). That will tell you your mac address and currently allocated ip. Setup static to your pc then forward to that ip. I recommend ports generic high, say 15631 TCP and 15679 UDP. You can find these under preferences / settings > connection

tried this and nothing seems to work. I even re-installed it nothing. tried an older version, nowt this is geting frustrating.

the thing that I find most annoying is that it happened without me doing any thing at all. one day working next day not working. I should not let it bother me much because I dont think it affects what I am donloading much, but I cant search for as many files with global.

What router are you using and are you forwarding both the TCP and the UDP ports correctly?

I am using a Sitecom dc-202 router and I think I have forwarded both ports correctly but cant be sure. Since not using kad I have been having speeds up to 60 KB/s which I have never had before I think the max I have ever had was like 27 or something.

you can be sure, take some screenshots of your router pages where you setup your NAT port forwarding, and also your connection tab in your emule preferences :)

speed going down sounds like the complete opposite of what happens, KAD increases the source count a great deal, but not much else. The speed is unrelated, you'd have got that or more if you'd have been connected to KAD

My problem has been sorted and I would like to thank you all for helping me. My computer had not been working all that great for a while it was slow connecting to web sites then one day, No connection at all.
My internet server providers came out to have a look and they gave me a new modem, which improved my speed greatly, but still kad not work.
Just this morning I disconnected all the cables in the back of the pc, opened up my computer to make sure I had room and all the cables to put another hard drive in, reconnected, opened emule and kad is working and I have high id.

great... :D
